Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 246

“A company is a collective, not a stage for individuals. I want everyone involved here to understand that. The very fact that I’m standing before you proves I’m capable of leading, and let’s not forget—Mrs. Murphy herself put her faith in me!”

“If anyone has any concerns, today is the day to speak up honestly. I don’t want any of you harboring resentment or unspoken grievances against me.”

Since Leonard had taken over the company, he’d been looking for ways to make it better—and the results spoke for themselves. Profits had risen several points compared to last year. Everyone could see the progress. If Mrs. Murphy hadn’t trusted him, she never would have handed such a huge operation to someone so young.

Truth be told, when he first arrived, most people doubted him. They thought he was just some kid, too inexperienced to run the business. But soon enough, they realized Leonard’s abilities far surpassed those of the middle-aged men who surrounded him. His outlook and ideas were miles ahead of theirs.

But now, after his words settled over the room, everyone dropped their heads. No one dared to speak. They might have grumbled behind closed doors, but in person, not a soul voiced a complaint.

Leonard’s presence at the head of the table was unshakable. He commanded the room without effort, and everyone else fell silent in his wake.

He let his gaze sweep across the conference table. “Since no one has anything to say, then I’ll be clear: from this moment on, I’ll do everything possible to make up for the company’s recent shortcomings. And I will not let Mrs. Murphy down!”

Seeing the meeting room so quiet, Leonard finally felt some of the weight lift from his shoulders. Still, he knew this silence was only skin deep. Inside, resentment was brewing.

“Let’s move on to the recent project reports,” he continued. “We’ll go over the data together. If there are problems, I’ll hold individuals accountable. You have three days to resolve any issues. If you can’t fix them, let me know. But if it’s a personal failure, I won’t let it slide.”

Leonard knew these people well. He’d been away from the office lately, and it was obvious they’d started to slack off. They’d stopped caring about the company—even when its troubles might impact their own futures.
