Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 255

So that’s what was going on.

Marguerite remembered that she and Hogan had never really worked together before—so why were they suddenly teaming up now that there was trouble at the company? It was a little odd.

The truth was, Hogan had shown up on his own today. He’d heard about the problems the company was facing, and he was worried Leonard was carrying too much of the burden alone. He was genuinely concerned something might happen to him.

Hogan’s real purpose in coming was to see if there was anything he could do to help. But once he arrived, he realized just how serious things had gotten. The company was under intense pressure: clients were demanding to terminate their contracts, and several major accounts had already been lost.

It seemed the recent turmoil in Leonard’s family had shaken everyone’s trust. Some doubted whether he was truly a member of the Murphys at all. What if, one day, Mrs. Murphy changed her mind and asked him to leave? Where would that leave their business partners? Most of them had invested as much in Leonard as in the company itself. If either were to disappear, the projects could collapse—no one wanted to take that risk.

Now, everyone was hesitating, unsure if they should continue working with him. The uncertainty was sending the company’s stock into a downward spiral.

Hogan had heard all the rumors swirling around him and, at first, couldn’t believe things had gotten this bad. But after seeing it for himself, he realized it was all true.

As it happened, he was holding a project that would be a perfect fit for collaboration with Leonard. If they could pull it off, it might just shift the spotlight—and public confidence—back to them.

That’s why Hogan was willing to step in and help Leonard at such a difficult time.

“Mr. Taylor, did Mr. Zade talk to you afterwards? How do you think I did today?” Laura’s voice was tense when she called from home; she still felt uneasy, a restless anxiety she couldn’t quite shake.

Marguerite hesitated, replaying what Luke had said to her earlier in her mind, torn over whether she should tell Laura the truth.

If she did, it might hurt Laura’s feelings more than she could handle. But if she kept quiet, letting Laura waste her time, that didn’t seem right either.

Stuck in the middle, Marguerite felt more conflicted than ever. She’d never wanted to get involved in their relationship drama, but now it seemed there was no way to avoid it.
