Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 275

Of course, Marguerite paid no mind to their affairs. She understood, better than most, that whether people stayed together or parted ways, it was always their own decision. No matter how things turned out, outsiders could never truly interfere when it came to matters of the heart.

She herself was proof enough. If she’d listened to her family all those years ago, perhaps none of this would have happened.

As she left, Marguerite could sense Hogan’s spirits sinking. She knew how much all of this must hurt him.

Still, there was nothing she could do but walk away.

That evening, Leonard came home from work.

“Did you already tell your brother about it?” Leonard asked quietly as he set down his keys. “He didn’t come into the office today, and I couldn’t find him anywhere.”

“We met earlier,” Marguerite admitted, her voice low. “I couldn’t keep it from him any longer. He’s my brother—how could I just stand by and say nothing?”

“He seemed completely thrown off, though. I don’t think he has any idea how to handle it. I told him I’d give him time to process, and I know he’ll figure things out in the end.”

Though she said all this aloud, Marguerite couldn’t help but worry about Hogan deep down. She had no idea what he’d do next.

“You did the right thing,” Leonard assured her. “It’s his choice to make, after all. We’re on the outside looking in; we can’t decide how things unfold between them. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Your brother’s smart—he’ll make the right call.”

“I’ll be there as soon as I can,” Leonard replied and hung up, worry creasing his brow. He hadn’t expected his grandmother to fall ill again. At her age, every episode took a greater toll on her body.

“What happened to Grandma?” Marguerite asked, overhearing the call. Her concern was immediate and genuine.

She couldn’t help but feel that Aaron and his family were going too far. No matter what, she thought, that’s his mother—how could he be so heartless?

Marguerite had been wrestling with that question for a long time now. She still couldn’t understand what they were after, or how things had come to this.
