Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 289

But still, she answered the call.

“Marguerite, I’m sorry to bother you so early,” Hannah said, her voice tinged with urgency. “There’s something I’d like to talk to you about. If you’re free, could you come out for a bit? I’m standing outside your studio right now.”

Marguerite was surprised—not only had Hannah called her directly, but she’d actually come all the way over to see her in person.

She quickly agreed. “Of course! But I’m not at the studio yet; I’m still on my way to work. Could you wait for me a few minutes? I’ll be there soon.”

“Sure.”

Ten minutes later.

When Marguerite arrived at the studio, she spotted Hannah already waiting for her inside a nearby café.

“Sorry, traffic was a mess with the morning rush hour,” Marguerite apologized as she sat down, her nerves quietly on edge. There had to be a reason for this early morning meeting—something must have happened between Hannah and Hogan, otherwise Hannah wouldn’t have sought her out so urgently.

“Marguerite, have you been in touch with Hogan these past few days?” Hannah went straight to the point, not bothering with small talk. “He’s been acting odd lately—not like himself around me. It just feels... different, and I wanted to ask if you knew what might be going on.”

Marguerite hesitated for a second. As expected, women were always sensitive to changes in a relationship. Hannah’s visit made perfect sense—she must have sensed something was off between her and Hogan.

“Absolutely! I’ll give him a good talking-to. No matter how busy work gets, he shouldn’t forget about his girlfriend,” Marguerite teased lightly. “If he’s been neglecting you, he definitely owes you some quality time once things settle down.”

No matter what, they were still together—and if they stayed that way, they’d need to work through these bumps as a couple.

Marguerite wanted to leave room for them to find their own balance, to give them the space to figure things out.

“Thank you, Marguerite. I know you’ve got a lot on your plate right now, with work and everything,” Hannah said, managing a small, grateful smile. “I really didn’t want to bother you, but I just… I haven’t felt very secure lately.”
