Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 290

“It probably has something to do with my personality. I’ve always been like this—never really felt safe, not since I was a child.”

It was true. Growing up in that kind of family environment, it was hard to blame her for the way she turned out. Maybe her parents just didn’t know any better, or maybe they simply couldn’t help it.

People like Hannah struggled to trust others. She was always afraid of being let down, always bracing herself for disappointment.

“You really don’t have to worry,” Marguerite said gently. “As long as you two are together, he’s never going to betray what you have. He’d never do anything to hurt you. If he’s been distant lately, it’s only because of work, I promise.”

“Now, focus on your career. I watched one of your dance videos the other day—you were incredible. You shine on stage, Hannah. And I heard you have a competition coming up. If you win first place, you could become an internationally recognized ballet coach! I hope you give it your all. I truly believe you’ll make it.”

Marguerite always seemed to know exactly what to say. Sometimes, when God closes one door, He opens another.

Hannah was beautiful, radiant even, especially when she danced. In those moments, it was as if she glowed from within.

“Thank you, Marguerite. I guess I’ve just been stressed with work lately. I wanted to vent to him, maybe let off some steam, but he never seems to have the time these days.”

“My work isn’t busy at all right now. I have plenty of free time, and honestly, I enjoy spending it with you. We could be friends, you know—real friends.”

“If there’s ever anything on your mind, anything weighing you down, you can always tell me. I’ll listen, and I’ll help however I can. And even if I can’t fix it, I can always be your sounding board. Sometimes just saying things out loud helps.”

Marguerite meant every word; his sincerity was unmistakable. He wanted Hannah to open up, to share the secrets she kept locked away. He knew that if she could just talk about them, even a little, it would bring them closer.

But Hannah wasn’t ready. She kept her secrets guarded, unwilling to let anyone in—not even Marguerite.
