Before they knew it, the day of their long-awaited reunion had arrived. They’d all traveled back together—after all, they lived in the same city, and the car was filled with laughter and stories the whole way. Being together just made everything more lively and fun.
Leonard, however, couldn’t join them on the journey home. He had an important meeting scheduled for that morning, and another contract to sign in the afternoon. There was simply no way he could get away. Still, he’d promised that as soon as he wrapped up his work, he’d come find them right away.
Marguerite understood completely. This was a pivotal moment in Leonard’s career, and the past few weeks hadn’t been easy on him. Landing this contract had taken a lot of effort, and he couldn’t afford to let anything jeopardize it—not a change in schedule, not even the smallest misstep. She would never allow herself to be the reason something went wrong. There was nothing urgent on her end anyway; all she wanted was for Leonard to focus on his responsibilities and join them when he was free.
As soon as they walked through the door, Hogan began making introductions. “Mom, let me introduce you—this is my girlfriend, Hannah. I’ve mentioned her before. There were a few things that came up, so it took a while for you to finally meet. But here we are. And Hannah, these are my parents.”
Although they’d already seen each other in photos, meeting face-to-face felt entirely different.
“I’m Hannah,” she said warmly, “and yes, I’m Hogan’s girlfriend. I brought you a little something—just a small gift. I wasn’t sure what you’d like, so I picked up a few things. I hope you like them.”
Mrs. Taylor smiled and shook her head. “Hannah, I’ve told Hogan before—just come, that’s all we want. We’re so happy to have you here; you really didn’t need to bring anything. We’re family now, and there’s no need for all these formalities.”
Mrs. Taylor turned to Hannah as they sat down. “I asked the kids what you like to eat, so I made a few dishes just for you. I hope you enjoy them. But if there’s anything that’s not quite to your taste, please tell me—next time I’ll make it just the way you like.”
She had put a lot of thought into the meal, wanting Hannah to feel truly welcomed.
Hannah couldn’t help but beam. Her heart felt full—she was happy, and deeply touched by their kindness.
