KSAN Group had been expanding rapidly over the past few years—so much so that the Foster Corporation could hardly compete.
“Mr. Foster, it’s been a while.”
“Mr. Green, what a pleasure. Please, have a seat.”
The meeting began.
Halfway through, Mr. Green broached the topic of patents.
“Mr. Foster, you haven’t forgotten what you promised me, have you? I’m here today for your company’s patent,” he said, his tone light and easy, as if they were just old friends catching up.
“Benjamin Foster always keeps his word,” Benjamin replied with a confident smile. He glanced at his assistant, a silent cue to bring over the patent documents.
One of Mr. Green’s associates took the folder and began reviewing the paperwork on the spot.
They needed to be certain the patent was legitimate before signing anything.
After a thorough inspection, Mr. Green’s assistant frowned, his expression turning grave. He leaned in and whispered a few words into Mr. Green’s ear.
“What’s going on, Mr. Green?” Benjamin asked, puzzled but still exuding confidence.
Mr. Green’s demeanor changed in an instant. He snapped, “What do you take me for, Benjamin? Trying to strike a deal with me using someone else’s patent—do you think I’m a fool?”
He slammed the file onto the table, veins bulging on his forehead, fury blazing in his eyes.
No matter what, today he had to get Marguerite to bring out that patent.
He rushed to Marguerite’s office, relieved to find she was in.
Marguerite merely arched an eyebrow, as if she’d known all along he would show up.
“Marguerite, when did you change the name on the patent? Why didn’t you tell me? Do you have any idea how important this deal is for me? Why would you do this?” Benjamin demanded, his tone accusatory. He seized her wrist, gripping tighter in his agitation.
Laura, seeing Benjamin’s aggressive stance, rushed in behind him, worried he’d take things too far.
“Benjamin, this patent was Ms. Taylor’s to begin with. She has every right to put her name on it. Let her go—now!” Laura shot back without hesitation.
