Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 341

Mr. Taylor was never one to sugarcoat things, not even in front of his own children. Still, he made sure to remind his son to treat Hannah with kindness and respect. After all, life hadn’t been easy for her, and she truly seemed like a wonderful young woman. Good people like her were hard to find these days, and he knew his son was lucky.

Since what happened with their daughter, both Mr. and Mrs. Taylor had learned to let go. They’d agreed long ago not to meddle in their children’s relationships anymore, no matter who they brought home. They’d seen firsthand how interference could lead to nothing but heartbreak on both sides. Even though their daughter eventually found her clarity and stopped things before they got worse, they could see how much pain she’d gone through. The distance that had grown between them over the years, and the way she’d shouldered everything alone, had truly broken their hearts.

Looking back, they had only arranged Marguerite’s engagement to Leonard because they trusted him. He seemed like a man worthy of their daughter’s future, someone who could be relied upon. Handing her over to his care had felt like the right thing to do—until everything unraveled after their engagement.

But after all that, they’d learned their lesson. If their daughter said no this time, they wouldn’t force her into anything. Experience had taught them better.

“Don’t worry, Dad,” Hogan said, his voice steady and sincere. “Hannah is the woman I’ve chosen, someone I want to call family. From now on, I promise to cherish her, never let her down, and live up to your expectations. We’re going to be happy together, I know it.”

He glanced around the table, gratitude shining in his eyes. “I’m also really thankful to you, Mom and Dad—and to you, sis—for welcoming Hannah with open arms and treating her like one of your own. From now on, we’re family.”

Before tonight, Hogan had been anxious. He’d worried his parents might not accept his girlfriend, that old wounds might reopen. But now, sitting here, seeing their smiles, he could finally let go of his fears. Their acceptance was all he needed.

Leonard offered a grateful smile. “Thank you, but I already grabbed a bite on the way. I’m so sorry I couldn’t make it earlier—there was an important contract at the office that I just couldn’t put off.”

He knew how much tonight meant to them—the first time Hogan’s girlfriend was meeting the family—and he wished he could have been there. But this project was crucial for the company, a turning point he couldn’t afford to miss. Still, as soon as he’d wrapped things up, he rushed over, hoping they’d understand he was doing his best.

And from the warmth in their eyes, he could tell that they did.
