Goodbye My Arrogant Ex novel Chapter 39

Laura hurried into the office and, upon spotting Marguerite, couldn’t help but grumble, “Ms. Taylor, that Foster family is absolutely insane.”

“They just keep pestering and won’t let up. It’s insufferable!”

Marguerite gave a dry chuckle. “They won’t be so smug for long. Benjamin, that fool, still believes everything I do is somehow for him. He really thinks too highly of himself!”

“Exactly! Benjamin is a total jerk—he’s not even fit to lick Ms. Taylor’s boots!”

Marguerite laughed. “You know, you’ve got a point there.”

Laura’s eyes sparkled, her mood lifting even more. It seemed Marguerite really was over Benjamin for good, and that could only be a positive thing.

Marguerite glanced at the clock. “I need to get back to some company business. If anyone comes looking for me, tell them to try another day.”

Back at home, Mrs. Foster returned to find Benjamin slumped on the couch, looking utterly lost.

“Ben, what’s the matter with you?”

She approached, worry etched on her face. Benjamin looked up, troubled. “Mom, do you think Marguerite really means to leave me this time?”

“Why else would she be so heartless? She didn’t just take all her things and walk out, she’s nearly run our company into the ground as well.”

“Does she really hate me that much?”

Mrs. Foster’s concern quickly turned to anger. What did that woman have that could make her son so miserable? Who did Marguerite think she was?

Her eyes narrowed, and she insisted, “You two have been together for seven years. Don’t tell me you never argued before? Women love to throw a little tantrum now and then.”
