Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 47

Leonard hadn’t replied in a long while, but Marguerite didn’t care. Cradling her phone, she drifted off into one of the most restful sleeps she’d had in ages.

That night, she slept soundly—no nightmares, no tossing and turning. It struck her that ever since she’d broken up with Benjamin, those restless, heavy nights had all but vanished.

When she woke up, she felt completely refreshed, clear-headed in a way she’d almost forgotten.

But the moment she unlocked her phone, her mood shifted, a chill settling in her expression.

Who the hell is that guy, Marguerite? How dare you sneak around behind my back?

You’re such a shameless woman—do you even know what you’re doing?

Marguerite, call me back right now or I swear I’ll never forgive you. Is this really what you want—to watch me get engaged to Fiona?

Expressionless, Marguerite blocked Benjamin’s number without a second thought. Just how much time and energy did this man have? It seemed he was determined to bombard her through every possible channel.

Didn’t he ever get tired of his own drama?

She guessed his company must really be in trouble—maybe he’d finally reached the end of his rope.

It was almost laughable. He’d tossed her aside like she was nothing, and now that he needed her, he wouldn’t leave her alone.

Did he really think she was the kind of pathetic woman who went crawling back to her ex?

A gentle knock on the door interrupted her thoughts. “Ms. Taylor? Good morning, are you awake?”

The voice was soft, careful not to intrude.

Marguerite stood, stretching lazily before heading to the door. She opened it with a faint smile. “I’m up. Is there something you need?”

I’m glad you like it.

Leonard replied almost instantly, surprising her. For a second, Marguerite wondered if he was watching her, waiting for her response.

The thought made her laugh. Shaking her head, she typed, Then I’m going to eat now, Mr. Murphy.

Go ahead.

Suddenly, Marguerite felt like she was back in grade school—reporting what she ate, keeping someone posted on every little thing. Still, there was something sincerely sweet about it, about the way he took the time to make sure she was cared for.

After finishing breakfast, Marguerite was about to head out to the office when her phone rang—Hogan’s name flashed on the screen.

“Hey, sis! Do you have a minute? Can you pick me up at the airport? Come on, Liam, I finally made it here—are you really going to make me wait?”
