Goodbye My Arrogant Ex (Marguerite and Leonard) novel Chapter 60

“When we went out earlier, I was planning to take your mother to the hospital with Maggie. With so many people there, I was worried I wouldn’t be able to handle everything by myself.”

“But then I saw Maggie meeting a man for dinner—in a five-star restaurant, no less. I have no idea what she’s been up to lately. Has she said anything to you?”

For weeks, Fiona had been secretly having people follow Marguerite. She kept tabs on her every move.

Her words landed like needles in Benjamin’s heart, sharp and relentless. He snapped.

Here he was, working himself to the bone every day, trying to save the company as it teetered on the edge, and she was out dining with some strange man?

He slammed his fist on the table. “Shameless!”

“I only saw them go in together. I don’t really know what happened after that. Maybe it’s all a misunderstanding. Don’t get yourself too worked up.”

She fanned the flames, then sat back and played the part of peacemaker.

The angrier Benjamin became, the more satisfied Fiona felt.

“What? Marguerite’s already seeing another man? No wonder she’s been so cold-hearted lately—she’s already lined up someone new!”

Mrs. Foster, lying in bed, shot upright at their voices, her heart pounding painfully in her chest. She couldn’t accept what she was hearing.

“Mom, please, just stay in bed and rest. I’ll handle all of this. You don’t have to worry.”

“How can I not worry? Your wife is about to run off with someone else! You know how I’ve always treated Marguerite—like my own daughter. How could she do this to us?”

Mrs. Foster was shaking, her entire body trembling with anger and heartbreak.

Despite everything that had happened, in her heart, Marguerite was still her daughter-in-law.

The next morning.

Marguerite had finally wrapped up the last of her company’s business. She wouldn’t have to go in anymore.

After waking up, she opened her laptop and began tackling a few projects she still had on her plate.

With Laura helping out and handling whatever she could, Marguerite finally felt she could breathe.

“Ms. Taylor, don’t forget you have an event tonight. I’ve already booked the restaurant and sent the details to your phone.”

Laura had become more and more capable, and the two of them worked seamlessly together now.
