Goodbye My Arrogant Ex novel Chapter 61

"Understood."

After hanging up, Marguerite glanced at her phone, double-checking the time and location before switching off the screen.

Evening.

Marguerite arrived alone at the restaurant they'd agreed on. Hogan had planned to come with her, but Matthew called him away at the last minute, so she was on her own. Honestly, this was just a work dinner—she was perfectly capable of handling it herself and didn’t need company.

She waited a few minutes after arriving before her contact, Mr. Zade, showed up.

The projects and patents Marguerite had on hand were closely aligned with Zade Corp’s vision. If things went well, she hoped to establish a long-term partnership with him.

That’s why she’d put so much thought into tonight’s meeting, even choosing the restaurant herself.

“Good evening, Mr. Zade. I’m Marguerite. It’s a pleasure to meet you,” she said, reaching out with a confident, steady hand.

“Good evening, Ms. Taylor. I’ve heard quite a bit about you and your impressive patents. Our company’s been working on a few of our own lately, and your proposals match exactly what we’re looking for. Why don’t we sit down, have a drink, and talk business?”

Mr. Zade greeted her warmly, his hand lingering in the handshake just a little too long, his eyes fixed on her in a way that made her skin crawl.

Thankfully, Laura had briefed her before she came—Mr. Zade was talented, his company large and influential, but he had a reputation for being a little too fond of the ladies. Laura had even offered to come along, but Marguerite had assured her she could handle it.

She’d dressed especially conservatively tonight. As soon as she felt Mr. Zade’s grip tighten, she pulled her hand free with a polite smile. “Please, have a seat, Mr. Zade.”

Once he sat down, Marguerite subtly moved her chair a little farther back, making sure there was plenty of space between them.
