Goodbye My Arrogant Ex novel Chapter 84

“Thank you for the compliment, Grandma. Honestly, I was a bit nervous before coming here today, but after meeting you, I can’t help but like you a lot too!”

Marguerite couldn’t quite explain it, but she felt an unexpected sense of warmth toward the elderly lady. There was a genuine kindness in her eyes.

“That’s wonderful, my dear. You know, Leonard’s marriage has always been the thing that worries me the most. Before he met you, he hadn’t dated a single girl—not even once! I tried setting him up with all sorts of lovely young women, but he never agreed to any of them.”

“I was starting to think he’d spend his whole life alone. Who would’ve thought he’d find you? Honestly, the boy has good taste!”

“With your engagement coming up so soon, I’m just over the moon. You must stay for dinner tonight! I’ve told the cook to make something special and nourishing for you—look at you, so slender! You need to eat well and build up your strength. I’m counting on you to give me a great-grandchild soon.”

At the moment, it was clear that the only thing on the old lady’s mind was holding a great-grandchild in her arms.

It was easy to see how much she cared for Leonard—and that her affection for Marguerite was genuine.

Before coming here, Marguerite had felt a lot of pressure, but seeing how approachable and warm Leonard’s grandmother was, she finally felt at ease.

“Mother, do we have guests?”

“Leonard, you’re finally home! What a rare occasion!”

The group was chatting when a woman’s sharp, mocking voice drifted in from the hallway.

Marguerite turned in the direction of the door and saw a middle-aged woman, dressed in an eye-catching, almost flamboyant style, saunter in.

Leonard didn’t even bother to look up; his expression instantly darkened.

“This is Leonard’s fiancée, Marguerite.”

“And Marguerite, this is Edith—Leonard’s aunt.”
