I Owe the Tyrant Four Little Heirs novel Chapter 155

Her heart was hammering against her ribs. Mr. Bragg’s office was completely destroyed. Even if she sold herself, she could never afford to pay for the damages.

But Jareth said nothing. He just stared, his eyes wide with disbelief as he looked from one identical child to the next.

“Hey, Mr. Bragg, did you hear us or not?” Keir shouted, annoyed that Jareth was just staring at them blankly.

Phaedra marched forward and started kicking Jareth’s leg with her little foot. “That’s for bullying my mommy! I’ll teach you to bully my mommy!” she chanted with each kick.

Niamh rushed over and pulled her back. “Phaedra, be polite!”

“But Mommy, that bad man bullied you! I have to get revenge for you!” Phaedra yelled. “I won’t let anyone bully you! I’ll fight anyone who tries to hurt my mommy! Hmph, you big meanie!”

“Big meanie! Big meanie! I’ll beat you up, you big meanie!” Aurelia chimed in, echoing her sister.

Jareth’s heart was beating so fast he could hardly breathe, hardly think. He had a powerful, undeniable feeling that these four children were connected to him.

“Aurelia, be quiet!” Niamh pleaded, clamping a hand over her daughter’s mouth. She knew Jareth well enough to recognize this eerie silence. It was the calm before a storm, the moment right before he exploded.

Jove stepped forward again. “Mr. Bragg, if you want to cause trouble for us, you can find us at 602, Building 6, Honest Haven. We’ll be waiting,” he said with the gravity of a seasoned negotiator. “And I hope you won’t bother my mother. This has nothing to do with her.”

With that, Jove took Keir’s hand with one hand and Niamh’s with the other, leading them past Jareth.

As she was pulled along, Niamh kept apologizing over her shoulder. “Mr. Bragg, I’m sorry, I’m so, so sorry!” At that moment, apologies were all she had.

“What should I say if someone asks tomorrow?” Colby asked quickly.

“Tell them it was faulty wiring.”

“Understood.”

The moment Jareth was in his car, he gave an order to his driver. “Wilbur, follow that blue electric car.”

“Right away, Mr. Bragg.”

Next, Jareth found the number for the Bragg Manor’s butler and dialed. “Lenny, can you pull the customer transaction records for all departments at the Cliffhaven Hotel for the night of May 1st, 2016?”
