I Owe the Tyrant Four Little Heirs novel Chapter 161

“I’m Niamh’s colleague. My name is Usher Yarnell. We’re both assistants to Mr. Bragg,” Usher explained quickly, not wanting Niamh’s father to get the wrong idea.

“Oh, you’re Niamh’s colleague! Please, come in,” Cassian said, taking out his keys to unlock the door.

Cormac handed his gifts to Usher and walked away without another word.

“Usher, what are you doing here?” Niamh asked, surprised to see him as she came out of her room.

“Niamh, I just came to see you and your quadruplets,” Usher said, sticking to his cover story.

He had just sat down when Keir emerged from a room and asked him point-blank, “Mister, are you trying to date my mommy?”

“No, no, that’s not it at all! I’m not trying to date your mommy,” Usher stammered, terrified. This was Mr. Bragg’s woman; he wouldn’t dare make a move. Besides, with four kids, his salary wouldn’t even begin to cover the expenses.

After surreptitiously collecting hair samples from the quadruplets, Usher rushed straight to the DNA testing center. Knowing Mr. Bragg would be anxious, he paid for an expedited test.

When he was told the results would be ready in six hours, Jareth grew even more tense and specifically instructed Usher to wait there and not leave. Although Usher thought it was a bit much, he didn’t dare argue with an order from Mr. Bragg. This was clearly a matter of immense importance, and he treated it with the gravity it deserved, his own nerves on edge.

Jareth had never felt six hours pass so slowly. It felt like sixty years.

At three in the afternoon, Usher finally called.

“Usher, what are the results?” Jareth asked, his voice tight with anticipation.

As Usher was lost in thought, Jareth’s icy voice crackled through the phone. “Usher, if you breathe a single word of this to anyone, I will kill you. Do you hear me? That includes my grandfather.”

A chill ran down Usher’s spine. “Mr. Bragg, you have my word. I won’t say a thing to anyone!”

“Good.”

After hanging up, Jareth snatched his suit jacket from the sofa and sprinted out of the villa. In that moment, all he wanted to do was find Niamh and tell her that he was the father of her four children. He wanted to tell her that she wouldn’t have to struggle anymore.

But as he reached the gate of the estate, he stopped short.

“Jareth, calm down,” he told himself. “You have to be calm. What if you scare her away? You’re the one who assaulted her that night.”
