I Owe the Tyrant Four Little Heirs novel Chapter 18

Seeing Cormac was like running into an old acquaintance. The moment he had called off their engagement, any hope or feeling she had for him had died.

Cormac, however, looked overwhelmed, his gentle eyes glistening with unshed tears. After five years, Niamh was more mature, more beautiful, but also much thinner.

He reached out and took her wrist. “Niamh, come to my office. We need to talk.”

Niamh flinched and pulled her hand back, taking a step away. “I’m sorry, Cormac. Maybe some other time.”

Before she could turn away, he grabbed her wrist again and pulled her toward his office. She started to resist, but they were in the middle of the office, and making a scene would only attract unwanted attention. She lowered her head and let him lead her down the long corridor.

Rhoslyn saw the whole thing from her desk. So did Jareth, who happened to look up at that exact moment.

Rhoslyn’s hand tightened on her mouse. As Cormac closed his office door, she slammed the mouse down on her desk, making a nearby colleague jump.

And in the CEO’s office, Jareth’s expression darkened, his face growing colder and more menacing.

“Niamh, where have you been for the past five years?” Cormac asked the moment the door was closed, his voice thick with emotion.

Niamh tried to pull her hand away, but he only held on tighter.

“Cormac, you’re hurting me,” she said.

He immediately let go. “I’m sorry, Niamh. I’m just so happy to see you.”
