Besides, Winnie had always said that boss was notoriously eccentric. It seemed she couldn’t have her cake and eat it too.
“Niamh?” Rhea called out, noticing her dazed expression.
Niamh snapped back to reality. “Rhea, look, I’m not familiar with the secretarial duties yet. For Mr. Bragg’s trip tomorrow, maybe you or Usher could go instead?”
Rhea shrugged. “I suggested that to Mr. Bragg, but he specifically requested you.”
“What?” Niamh’s panic intensified.
Is he insane? Why would he single her out? He must be doing this just to spite her.
Seeing the fear on Niamh’s face, Rhea and Usher exchanged a knowing glance and smiled.
“Don’t worry,” Rhea said reassuringly. “Mr. Bragg isn’t as terrifying as the rumors make him out to be. As long as you do your job well, you’ll be fine.”
“I’ve already written down everything you’ll need to do on the trip. I’ll send it to you later. Just follow the list, and you’ll be okay,” Rhea added.
“Thank you, Rhea,” Niamh said, feeling a little more at ease.
Just as Niamh reached the hallway, Rhoslyn appeared, clapping her hands sarcastically.
“Niamh! How impressive. A true master of your craft. You’ve only been at the company for three days, and Mr. Bragg has already promoted you to be his secretary. I have to say, I’m thoroughly impressed.”
Just as Rhoslyn finished her threat, Cormac walked in. “Rhoslyn, if you dare release that video, I’ll release the recording of you accepting bribes from job applicants.”
Rhoslyn stared at Cormac in disbelief. She had only ever told him about taking those bribes. She never imagined he would have recorded her.
And now, he was using it to threaten her, all to protect Niamh? She had trusted him completely. How could he do this?
“Don’t think I don’t know what you did,” Cormac continued, his face pale with rage. “You were the one who made sure Niamh went into the wrong room that night. You wanted to break us up. And like an idiot, I fell for your lies.”
“Rhoslyn, if you want to burn everything to the ground, I’ll be right here with the matches.”
Rhoslyn was stunned into silence.
