I Owe the Tyrant Four Little Heirs novel Chapter 8

“You only kissed me once, Mommy, but I kissed you three times. You got a good deal!” Aurelia announced proudly.

Niamh chuckled.

Phaedra, however, rolled her eyes and planted her feet firmly on the ground. “Mommy, I want a hug too.”

“Be a good girl, Phaedra,” Niamh said gently. “Mommy only has two hands. You’re the big sister, so you can walk, okay?”

“No!” Phaedra refused, crossing her short arms and turning her head away.

With another sigh, Niamh shifted Aurelia to one arm and picked up Phaedra with the other. The girls were getting heavy. In a few more years, she wouldn’t be able to carry them at all.

“Mommy, we want hugs too!” Keir and Jove chimed in, refusing to move.

“Keir,” Niamh said playfully, “if a boy always needs his mommy to carry him, he’ll never find a girlfriend.”

Keir giggled. “Hehe, just kidding, Mommy!”

Niamh breathed a sigh of relief and ushered them into the car. The moment they were buckled in, Jove Lynn patted his stomach. “Mommy, Jove is hungry.”

The other three immediately joined the chorus. “Me too, Mommy! I want to eat meat!”

Niamh started the car. “Didn’t you eat at kindergarten?”

“We did, but it was yucky.”

“Not as good as your cooking.”

“And there was no meat.”

“Alright, alright,” Niamh said. “Sit tight, and I’ll drive fast so we can get home and I can make you some.”

The promise of meat instantly quieted them down.
