I Owe the Tyrant Four Little Heirs novel Chapter 82

Then, Jareth gestured toward the woman. “Niamh, this is Amina, the agent for the world-renowned fashion brand Aida Attire here in Portsmore City.”

“And this,” he said, indicating the man, “is Herbert, one of Veridia’s most famous image consultants.”

“Hello,” Niamh said politely, finally beginning to understand.

No wonder the area around the sofa was piled high with at least fifty shopping bags filled with clothes and shoes. He was so disgusted with her appearance that he’d hired a professional team to give her a makeover.

For the next few hours, Niamh felt like a marionette. She changed from one outfit to another, one pair of shoes to the next. After each change, she had to walk over to Jareth and do a little twirl while he scrutinized her from head to toe.

Having studied fashion design herself, Niamh had a good sense of what suited her. The problem was, everything she liked, Jareth hated. And everything she disliked, he praised. Eventually, she gave up and kept her opinions to herself. He was the boss, the one signing her paychecks. Her preferences didn't matter; his did.

In the end, he selected three dresses for her: one white with a red floral print, one solid blue, and another white with a yellow floral print. All three were conservative and remarkably similar in style.

His taste, she thought, was truly questionable. If he was going to pick three dresses, couldn’t he at least have chosen three different styles?

When it came time to try on evening gowns, Niamh declared she was too tired to go through them one by one and asked if she could just pick one herself.

To her surprise, Jareth agreed.

She chose a short, nude-colored evening gown with a flared, princess-style skirt and paired it with sparkling crystal heels.

When she walked out, Jareth’s eyes lit up. With just a little effort, the woman was truly striking. Though petite, she carried herself with a surprisingly powerful presence.
