I Welcome Your Rejection: Angel Kings’ Proud Mate novel Chapter 43

Ira’s Pov

All my friends have sided with the angel kings. Of course we need them to kill the witch. What I fear is what they have planned to do with us later. One would have to be greatly stupid to think that they will simply let us go.

“I will confess to my mistakes, but let me come with you to witchelms and be part of savings Ira’s father,” Lior requests from them.

“We want you no where close to our palace, not even as a prisoner. You are free to help with this quest though,” King Ronen replies.

So he is banished. That’s a lesser punishment than execution. I would be grateful.

The door bursts open again and Linda’s face peeps in with an anxious expression. It was her who lead the angel kings to us again? I told Lior that leaving her behind was a bad idea but he really didn’t want her with us for some reason. He doesn’t understand that she is like a hungry predator after it’s prey. How did she even know where to find us.

“We…!” she trails off after noticing Lior. “My love! You’re okay,” she runs forward and wraps her hands around him like a relieved mother. “Why did you leave me? You promised we would do this toge-“

“I am sorry. There was no time to come back for you. There is no time for me to explain everything right now either,” he replies.

She nods with a huge smile like finding him again is all that matters in her life. “Of course. I just saw some curious neighbours coming close. They might be the witch’s spies. We must leave now, your majesties,” she says before turning her attention towards me. “Ira…. I am so glad you’re okay. I brought your herbs with me in case your wounds still hurt. The herbs are in the carriage,” she says.

They came with their golden carriage in an enemy kingdom? What was the point of wearing disguises if they will ride their famous regal carriage? Who wouldn’t recognize it?

“Witchelms are only a three day’s ride away since we cannot all fly there. I have a tiny house a few miles away from here where we can rest on the way,” Thumas informs.

“I do not see how we can ride three days without being noticed. We are a group of too many people,” King Adon points.

He doesn’t think that their carriage is what will be noticed first? It’s extravagant gold shines like a torch.

“Then we must split. Those of us who are unlikely to be recognised will lead the way,” King Ronen suggests. “Ira comes with us as she needs the best protection.”

Everyone nods in agreement.

That means I will be stuck with my cruel ex-mates throughout the three day journey. Told you that happiness was cursed out of my life.

King Adon walks closer and puts a hand around my shoulders. “I am sorry we couldn’t afford to be fabulous out here. But the inside of the carriage is comfortable enough for you to take a rest, let us help treat your wounds,” he tells.

How nice of them to let me know. Stupid, traitorous bastards!

“I am supposed to sit in the same carriage as that evil woman? You really can never change or do anything righ-” King Ronen cuts me off.

“She is locked in a cage that is also covered with a big, thick rug. You won’t even see her and she will only speak if we ask her to,” he comforts.

I had forgotten that they were supposed to order her execution earlier today, but they are here because I ran away. I don’t mind her presence as long as I do not have to look at her or hear her speak.

“We could kill her right here and throw away the body, but we do not trust your new friend completely to guide us to witchelms. It’s better to have our own compass just in case he isn’t what he claims to be,” King Tiras says.

I agree that we shouldn’t completely trust Thumas. He is a treasure hunter and my blood might also be his target. I know his reasons for seeking revenge against the devious witch, but who says that a person cannot pursue two goals at the same time? The angel kings might want my blood too in the end. We are however not there yet. I need them to kill the powerful witch.

“We should leave before neighbours gather,” I say.
