I Welcome Your Rejection: Angel Kings’ Proud Mate novel Chapter 45

Ira’s Pov

Even Thumas’s spare house looks more exquisitely furnished than those of most commoners. He really is a rich treasure hunter. Things look dusty though, which is understandable since I imagine that he neglects the house for months when on a quest for a new treasure.

“Apologies for the untidy environment. This used to be my brother’s home which I improved with more elegant furniture after his death. I have never slept a night here so I wouldn’t be surprised to find angry ghosts lurking in dark corners,” he says.

Why would he even think of such? The devious witch has made this kingdom a nightmare but I do not think that ghosts can be found in random abandoned homes.

“I will make some drinks as well as see if there is anything available to eat,” Thumas says, making his way out of the small living room.

Lior looks up at me with a concerned expression, but avoids uttering words in presence of the angel Kings.

“Ira should take the herbs now, your majesties. Her wounds will get infected,” Linda says.

“Is it not me you should be telling?” I question.

“I… of course. You should take your medicine so that you do not fall sick through this journey,” she advises.

“We may have forgotten the herbs in the carriage, go get them for your future queen,” King Ronen orders. Their future queen? Did I not just make it clear that will not happen? Lior appears surprised as his brows rise. I cannot explain it to him now that his masters are crazy.

Linda hesitantly leaves his side to get the herbs. I settle on the couch opposite his. Hopefully Thumas will find us something to eat since I have become quite hungry.

King Adon takes off his cloak and places it on my shoulders. “Sorry I couldn’t share it earlier. We have to hide our faces,” he says.

I will take the cloak because my body is literally shaking despite the long coat I have been wearing throughout our journey. It’s leather fabric isn’t very thick.

Someone knocks on the door and everyone appears surprised. Linda left to go get the herbs, but why would she be knoc iiking the door again like a fresh visitor? She should have walked in already.

“What strange guests visits at this hour?” King Tiras draws his silver blade and walks to door.

Everyone watches anxiously as he opens the door slowly. A woman who looks harmless stands on the other side. Her facial features bears clear resemblance to those of Thumas so she might be family. He never mentioned that he has more family around.

The woman doesn’t greet us as she watches forward into the room.

“Where is he?” her furious voice echoes across the small space. “You’re his fellow murderers?”

She draws a silver dagger that we had not noticed she had. Does she really think she can kill all of us? I pray for such confidence.

“Who you looking for?” King Tiras calmly asks.

“My murderous son! You must be his evil friends to be in this house,” the woman replies in a menacing tone.

She is Thumas’s mother? Why would she call him murderous?

She takes bold steps towards King Adon with her dagger raised. Can he be a little reasonable and not cut off her head?

“We only met your son a day ago!” I shout and she halts.

“He will sacrifice you too! Tell me where he is now-“

“Mother?!” Thumas’s shocked voice cuts her short.

Her grip on the knife tightens as she glares at him.

“You shameless monster! You thought that I wouldn’t find out?” she lunges at him with the dagger. “You killed my best son for the witch’s money, now I will send you to the Hades myself!”

Thumas jumps back as she brings down the knife, aiming for his neck. The tip of the dagger leaves a small cut across his chest. She wastes no time before charging at him again.

“Stop!” he screams, frantically kicks her hard in the abdomen. She stumbles back and falls.

“I do not know what she is talking about!” he shouts in a panicked voice.

I think he does. It’s exactly what I have suspected all along. That he is one of the witch’s spies, not a treasure hunter.

“Quit lying! I am the treasure you were going to sell to the devious witch all along,” I snap in range.

“What? No! I am a good man. I already told you-“

“That your parents raised you right?” I scoff. “Why is your mother tying to kill you then?”

“She is delusional,” he answers.

King Adon rises and strides towards him just as his mother pulls herself back to her feet.

“No one enters the witchelms or becomes a spy of the witch without sacrificing a life. We already knew that. You did kill your brother for the witch’s gold. It’s not hard to notice that valuable treasures are not found by cowards like you,” he hisses.

Thumas trembles like he is fighting an earthquake as the angel draws his silver sword.

“Kill him! He is nothing but a selfish and wicked gross son!” his mother screams.

She really hates him, or loved her other son a lot. If Thumas killed him I see no problem in him dying as well. He was going to sell me to the witch after promising to help us rescue my father. He had no shame claiming that his brother was murdered by the witch while trying to be her follower, that he seeks to avenge his death.

Who would have thought that he sacrificed his own brother for the riches he has? Like king Adon just said, he has never been a treasure hunter.

I used to think that Queen Andria is the most evil and pretentious person I will never meet but here we are.

“I think we should kill him after finding.out everything we need to know about the Witchelms,” King Ronen suggests.

Thumas gapes in horror at the harsh words. “Please don’t… kill me! I have… information about the devious witch that… you will find useful!” he literally screams.
