Ira’s Pov
Linda jumps on Lior’s horse after handing me my herbs. I take a little of each as my knuckles are bruised and painful.
The carriage of the angel kings leads the way with the kings, their queen and Thumas inside. I have doubts that the evil woman actually knows where she is taking us. She was a spoiled princess in her father’s palace, what are the chances that she knows the exact spot where the last family of Sincarions went hiding from her father’s soldiers?
She can have lied just to be taken out of the cage and be freed of the silver chain. Who knows where she is leading us? To her father’s palace?
“Do you really think Queen Andria knows where to find Sincarions?” I ask Lior. “We both know that she lived in a palace, not out here.”
“Yeah, that’s a good thought. She was an elegant Princess who could not have had the desire to be out here. But the angel kings made the decision to follow her lead. We cannot disagree now,” Lior replies.
I sigh in frustration. What’s the point of even following them?
“Why do you think so deep? You already have the most powerful blood as well as the admiration of your powerful mates. Why think like your life depends on it,” Linda asks.
“It probably does. Or I am just that way,” I answer.
Why would she ask such a strange question? She would prefer if I didn’t think at all when people are always betraying me? I too wish I didn’t have to think.
“If the angel kings shows you all the love they have for you, all the precious things they want you to have, will you love them back?” she asks.
What is it with her? She can have them if they are something she desires.
“I prefer good company to great wealth. They wouldn’t refuse you if you tried I am sure,” I answer.
Lior looks at her as if hopeful that she will say she wants them.
“I have nothing important to offer them. Besides I just found my mate,” she says.
Lior glares back at her but she carries on nevertheless. “Lior and I found out that we have a mate bond last night. It is the best thing that has happened to us in a long time. I cannot wait to see the faces of our babies.”
“Carry on and I will finally be annoyed enough to reject you once and for all,” Lior warns.
“Sorry, I was only letting her know that we are mates now,” she defends.
I still see the magic bracelet around his wrist, which means he is still withholding their mate bond. Yet she has dreams of having his babies.
“Our mate bond is nothing that wasn’t there before. But as you know it is not the true determinant of who our hearts will love, “Lior says to me.
I would hate love battles to be part of our quest. My father’s life depends a lot on the help I get.
She should have thrice the great tribute we sent to King Daemon, but we are no longer in our kingdom to give her that. A part of me even doubts that gold and silver can convince her that we care. I have noticed that she is more impressed by kindness, honesty and commitment, everything we haven’t been towards her when we had the chance.
That doesn’t mean we are giving up. We are still the only kings that can care and protect Ira effectively. We adore her deeply despite the fact that it isn’t believable yet. All we need is to save her father and return to our palace where we can provide them with the best life.
“Winning Ira’s wise heart may take time, but once we do everyone will be talking about how we spoil her,” Ronen replies to our ugly queen.
“How will you spoil her when she is so depressed and untrusting? She ran away from your palace instead of asking you to save her father. Clearly you do realize that even her scars will not completely heal since she is human. How will she ever love you back?” the vixen says.
“Shut up! You should worry more about your death since you’re of no value to us alive,” I snap.
She falls quiet after whispering an apology.
The carriage suddenly stops. We start to worry until Adon draws the thick curtains and peeps inside. “The road branches right ahead. Let that witch step out and point the right way,” he says.
Our Queen’s face is full of doubt as she hesitantly draws the curtain close to her and stares out. No words leave her mouth for a long time. Does she even know where she is leading us?
We should have let Ira punch her more.
