Ira’s Pov
“You can convince the pirates to jump into the water, your majesty. Then one of us will free the slaves to go back to their pack, ” I say to King Adon.
If we are on this quest together, I should be allowed to make suggestions as well.
“I would be happy to fulfill your request if only could influence their minds from that far, dear. I am afraid that we must let them get closer,” the angel answers, looking at me with an enchanting smile like I requested for a kiss.
“If I may make a proposal, your majesties, perhaps we might find out some new information from them if you hide your faces and have King Adon convince them that Linda is the devious witch,” Lior suggests.
“We already have a spy of the witch with us, what could those men possibly tell us that he cannot?” King Ronen questions.
“It’s been a long while since I last visited Witchelms or met the devious witch. I had nothing to deliver to her. Those men may know her latest ventures,” Thumas says.
“He isn’t lying, your majesties. He is no longer of use to you,” Aruin supplies with an amused grin.
“I can still fight and protect. Unlike you your only use is to criticize our claims,” Thumas angrily counters.
“We do not have time for that argument. She will pretend to be the witch,” King Adon states, points at Linda.
“Why me? Why not Ira? I do not look like an old witch,” Linda complains.
“You asked to be given the chance to be useful, honey. Or are you suddenly no longer interested in proving your worth to me? “her mate challenges.
She thinks for a long moment.
“How do I know you’re not just using me again just to help Ira. How do I know that you’re even interested in seeing my worth? ” she finally asks the question that a five year old would have asked from the start.
Lior holds up his hand and takes off the magic bracelet, breaking the spell that withheld their bond. Linda’s elation makes her eyes fill with tears. She rushes forward and hugs him tighter than gravity.
“I knew you loved me! Forgive me for doubting it. We will be together forever. And I will do anything you ask,” she swears while pecking his lips again and again.
“You should start acting like you’re the witch. His majesty’s illusion alone won’t be enough to entice those men to tell you everything,” he advises.
“I understand. Watch my wisdom,” Linda confidently says and assumes a more serious posture. Her blissful smile gets replaced by a nonchalant expression.
The angel kings pull up the hoods of their cloaks to hide their faces and hair. Hopefully the men will think that they are the witch’s guards.
“What do we do with the Sincarion? Lysandra’s followers would never believe that she would travel with one by her side,” Thumas says. “She only keeps a few as her honest slaves.”
Aruin nods. “Then I will pretend to be a slave,” he says, walking back to the centre of the boat and falling to his knees.
“I am sorry but you must join him as well. Lysandra hates the sight of a beautiful woman in her presence. Those men needs to believe that this is her,” Thumas says, gazing at me.
So Lysandra’s biggest desire is indeed to free the dark angel and bring King Osmund back to life. Two things only my blood can do. She really believes that he would want a life with her. Just because her sister is dead doesn’t mean that her mate will love her now.
“I think they have revealed to us enough,” King Ronen says. His brother nods and takes down the illusion from the minds of the men and pulls back the hood of his cloak to reveal his face and hair.
The pirates look around in horror as they realise that they were tricked, that they are on their knees in front of the enemy they just swore to destroy.
Terrified, they try to run off despite there not being space to do so. Three jumb into the shark infested waters while the others halt on the edge of their boat. They turn and starts to beg.
“Please don’t kill us! Your majesties… you can have all our stolen fortune. Just have mercy on our reckless acti-” King Ronen cuts the pirate short by hitting him with a lightning bolt that leaves a massive hole where his chest was.
The body falls off the edge of the boat and into the sea. The chained slaves in their bost looks relieved as they smile in awe. The rest of the witch’s men jump off on their own, deciding to take their chances with the sharks rather than be burned to death.
“You did well,” Lior approves Linda’s work of pretence and she goes back to hugging and kissing him. I wonder if he took off the magic bracelet permanently, or it’s just momentarily since he needed to use her.
“Does anyone know what golden wolves are?” I ask while getting back to my feet.
Those pirates said that they would be rewarded by Luminis by being made the first golden wolves. It must be something special because most people prefer riches. To get the reward they must find and deliver me to the witch. They swore soo passionately that I am sure that being a golden wolf must be worth the effort.
