I Welcome Your Rejection: Angel Kings’ Proud Mate novel Chapter 65

Ira’s Pov

They should just kill her as I cannot withstand the sounds of her screams. She wails and pleads like a so loud that the seers inside the valley can probably hear her.

They warned us that there are traitors among us whose actions might destroy us more than the enemies we are fighting. We failed to take steps to ensure that such wouldn’t happen. No wonder they didn’t express confidence in our victory. We were doomed to fail.

“I am extremely sorry for losing your blood. I cannot imagine the horror I have created,” Aruin ruefully mutters as he comes stand by my side, fingers running through his long hair.

He is not to blame. Thumas manipulated Linda’s selfish character. Once Lysandra uses my blood to free Luminis from the temple of shadows they will destroy Lordsland and every other pack and kingdom. We cannot gain possession of the golden trumpet before this happens.

“This quest was never destined to succeed. I am an unlucky person. Everything I get involved in worsens,” I tell.

“That isn’t true. I mean, luck isn’t something any of us has. We almost killed you to please our queen and she would have gotten your blood and taken it Lysandra because we were too stupid and unlucky as well,” King Ronen says.

That’s a touching confession. It’s like they have given up on their pride. I wish that’s how they were from the beginning. None of this would have happened.

“I think it is time to give in on this quest before everything is lost. We should take Ira to a safe place far from here then come back to fight Luminis incase there is a chance we can safe our kingdom and others that haven’t sided with him,” King Tiras says.

It’s a kind offer, but one that I am not going to take.

“I would rather die here trying to save my father than live far away without him,” I state.

The angels sigh in disappointment.

“What if there is still a chance that we can get to the golden trumpet before Lysandra frees the dark angel?” Aruin asks.

By now Thumas must be arriving in Lysandra’s cave to present the blood to her. How can we possibly get to the golden trumpet before she releases Luminis and he stops us?

“According to the ancient prophecy, the spell to free a soul from the world of shadows must be done on the night of the blood moon when the veils between worlds are thinnest. Otherwise they would need more of Ira’s blood. The night of the blood moon is two days away. So if we can hurry and get to witchelms by the end of today, there is a chance that we find the golden truphet before they Luminis is set free,” the Sincarion explains.

That indeed sounds like an opportunity. I might be truly unlucky but I cannot give up fighting when my father is in Lysandra’s captivity. And it sounds like the Sincarion is willing to carry on further than here. We really could use his help and knowledge in witchelms.

“Then we have to move now,” angel Tiras declares. “Those who can shift and ran faster should do so. We will carry Ira since she is the only human. We cannot worry about being spotted anymore as Thumas is already with Lysandra and telling her everything,” he says.

Everyone close nods on agreement. So the angel turns to his brother Adon and Lior whom seem to have been having their own discussion even as Linda writhes and screams in pain.

“Kill that thing so we can leave,” Tiras orders.

“She won’t be useful to us when dead,” Angel Adon replies before halting Linda’s pain and making his way to us.

He whispers something in Tiras’s ear.

The angel starts diving down after Aruin’s white wolf appears to have stopped in front of what looks like a very long line of dark stones and bones. We have flown several miles, a distance we could have taken a day and half to travel if they had to wait for my human slowness. Still I cannot wait to stand on my feet. My heart has been pounding throughout the journey regardless of how tight the angel held me. My fingers have probably dug holes into his neck and shoulders because I have been holding on too hard.

“I was worried that you would fly past the line of stones and bones and lose your powers to Lysandra’s spells,” Aruin says after we have landed, Adon and Ronen coming behind us. He has shifted back to his human form. Lior’s and Linda’s wolves can be seen approaching fast.

We are standing on barren land. The witch’s territory ahead of us is marked with black stones and dry human bones. The sight of the skeletons makes one heart race in fear. The devious witch and her coven have killed thousands of people to decorate the borders of their territory in a frightening manner.

“Such a monster should not be allowed to win,” Lior says after finally arriving and shifting back to his human form.

Unfortunately it is starting to seem like in this world it is evil that always wins. We are only trying to fight because we have to. We will probably die like all the others.

“I believe that the safest way to go in is through the gate,” Aruin points at a spot where the line of stones and bones curves inwards as if to create a clear path towards the gate with only two concrete polls but no doors.

“Let’s check it out,” angel Ronen suggests.

When follow the line of stones and bones and approach the gate which appears only symbolic as it has no doors. It however gets more stranger as get closer.

The other side of the gate looks like a reflection of the side we are standing. It is definitely some kind of a spell. One that makes it impossible to see what is really on the other side.
