I Welcome Your Rejection: Angel Kings’ Proud Mate novel Chapter 67

Third Person’s POV

The devious witch rises and strides towards Thumas. “No one has ever made me more proud. It appears that what Andria told me about you was a lie. I would have her dead head marking my borders if I do not still have use for her,” she says. “I will grant you your biggest desire. I will cast a spell to make you a golden wolf. You will be my greatest knight, and Lord Luminis’s cherished servant,” she offers.

Thumas bursts into tears of joy. “Yes M’lady. I will be of service in every way possible,” he swears.

“Your first task is to bring me Ira Levitt herself. We need to be her keepers. There is so much her blood can do. The Angel Kings will grow stronger and more powerful if she starts loving them. Bring her to me before her good heart becomes fond of their company. And they will be easy for Lord Luminis to destroy,” she orders.

“What you ask shall be done, M’lady. Just make me a golden wolf and I will move mountains for you.”

“The spell will be performed immediately,” Lysandra states in a pleased tone.

Ira’s Pov

We split into three teams in case some of us falls into an unseen trap the others can carry on with the quest. The group in the lead includes King Tiras and Aruin. The second includes King Adon and King Ronen and I, following the first closely but at least three metres behind. The last group is Lior and Linda. They walk a little far from us. Now and then Linda pulls Lior into her embrace and kisses him, like she cannot get enough of him.

He winks at me with a smirk on his face when he catches me glancing back at them.

“Remember the time we said that we wanted to restore our matebond?” King Ronen asks.

I nod. I never believed it, because I was sure that their goal was to drain my blood and have a witch cast a spell to give them the power to control dragons. I was desperate to escape before it happened.

“We wanted to make sure that you were ours again before announcing to the kingdom how special you were. It would have helped you heal faster. It could work even now. Your scars would be gone if we had a mate bond and got closer that we have been,” he tells.

Of course my wounds would heal faster if we had a mate bond and they loved me. I haven’t felt pain the last few days we have been close. It makes me wonder if there is still a connection that lingers somewhere.

I am realizing that they are capable of change. That their past decision are things they regret the most. That however doesn’t mean that I have studied their characters completely and gained confidence that they will never ever again change back to the jerks they were.

“If that’s the case then it would be wrong to not forgive you,” I say and the two angels smile. Their brother looks back at us like he was listening all along and smiles at me.

I may have said that I will be giving them another chance. But I will later confirm from Aruin that they meant every word they said.

We notice that King Tiras and Aruin have stopped after taking one of the corners of the twisting road. We join them at the edge of a short slope that leads to a very shallow stream. The other side of the stream is covered in thick fog. So thick that my human eyes cannot see an inch of the land we are about to enter.

There is an issue though. That despite the stream being extremely shallow, someone found it necessary to install a thick rope with a sliding seat across the river, attached to the two slopes.

If the stream is really that shallow, why then is there a swing to cross?

“This must be our next trap,” King Tiras observes.
