I Welcome Your Rejection: Angel Kings’ Proud Mate novel Chapter 68

Ira’s Pov

“Your aunt’s coven must hate getting their feet wet. I hate it too. But maybe it affects them in some way,” Linda says.

It’s also a possibility. I would rather be more careful though. Things are never that easy for me. Like I said, I am extremely unlucky. Which is why I am sure this must be some trap of some kind. Should we trend on the shallow stream or the cable ferry? One must be the trap.

“I think it’s more humble to pass through the stream,” Lior suggests.

“Lysandra cannot be testing virtues. She has the darkest of souls. Think harder,” King Tiras says. “What are your thoughts, dear?” he asks, gazing at me.

“I . . . I . . .am . . .,” I stutter, unable to come up with a thought for a moment. Then it hits me. We shouldn’t trend on the stream.

“We shall take the cable ferry. The stream isn’t real,” I inform.

“How is that possible?” Aruin asks.

King Adon squats as he observes the stream more closely.

“Because sometimes a river represents a division, a gap that separates one place from another. You cannot trend on gaps. But you can fly over them,” I answers.

“That makes no sense!” Linda opposes.

“She is right. If you look closer there is no stream, but an endless abyss,” King Adon confirms.

His brothers gets closer and stares at the stream. They all seem to agree on what they can see as they shake their heads. “We will all be taking the cable ferry since we too cannot fly around here to avoid detection,” King Tiras says. Lysandra has really gained powers from the dark angel. If she can create a dark void running miles to entrap people she has gotten as mighty Luminis is. Which makes me wonder if she hasn’t created golden wolves yet. We stand little chance of ever defeating her and Luminis. No wonder no one who has ever taken this path made it back out. The traps are lethal.

“Do you think that King Alodias and his army could be trapped in there, your Majesties? It’s a void, right? It could be some kind of path to the underworld,” Lior suggests.

“Oh my goodness! You’re so wise my love!” Linda exclaims, kissing him on the lips.

“The undead army should be visible to our eyes since they are not really dead. They cannot be in there,” Aruin explains.

At least we are assured that we won’t miss the dead army because they are partly ghosts.

“What do you think is on the other side of the stream? Can anyone see through the fog?” Aruin asks.

“No we can’t,” Adon answers.

“Why don’t you ask her? She seems to know everything,” Linda bitterly says.

Would she rather we fell into a dark abyss than hear me figure out the trap? That’s truly envious.

We get off the cable boat and join Ronen and Aruin. Adon sends the boat back so Lior and Linda can bond.

“A tomb is the last thing I expected,” Tiras comments.

“This must be it! King Alodias and his army are trapped between life and death, right?” Aruin says.

He has a point. The tomb’s compound is surrounded by heavy fog, like it separates this place from the real one. It’s like the tomb is made to trap souls that fell into the trap that was here. A dark spell binds the souls of King Alodias and his army to the world of the dead while they are still living. It’s a horrible punishment.

“Yes, I think this is it. Obviously we must look out for visible traps,” I say.

“I do sense anything wrong out here. But something is definitely guarding the tomb. Not from outside but inside,” Ronen says.

He is suddenly sensing everything? How do I know whether he is right or not? His intuition cannot be good enough to tell him where the trap is located. Can it?

“Your powers are becoming stronger, aren’t they? I told you that rebuilding your closeness to a Levitt Princess would work,” Aruin says to the angel kings.

What?! I thought that I was the only one benefiting from our closeness. They are growing more powerful when we are close? And I am only healing faster? That’s unfair, don’t you think?
