Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 278

Amelia woke up early and sent Timmy and Penny each a text: Good morning, my loves. Don’t forget to eat breakfast.

She had both their numbers saved now. She couldn’t always be there, but she wanted them to know she was thinking of them.

As she finished getting ready and stepped outside, Timmy replied.

His message was short: Okay.

A few seconds later, another popped up: You too.

Then he sent a photo of his breakfast. Penny was in the corner of the picture, totally absorbed in her phone and clearly ignoring Amelia’s message.

Amelia felt a little let down, but most of all she was happy that Timmy was slowly starting to open up to her again.

Her good mood didn’t last long.

She’d barely made it out of her apartment building when her phone started ringing nonstop.

She glanced at the screen, saw who it was, and her face went cold as she declined the call.

She knew exactly why Clive was calling. He’d definitely seen her resignation letter by now, probably thanks to his secretary.

So what if she quit? This was just the beginning. Andrew hadn’t even gotten involved yet.

When Clive called again, Amelia was done. She blocked his number without a second thought.

If they needed to discuss anything about the divorce, Andrew—her lawyer—would handle it.

Amelia walked over to the breakfast stand next door. Hi, I’ll have a basket of steamed dumplings, a pork bun, red bean porridge, and two boiled eggs. I’ll eat here.

Today was her first day as project manager at West Medicine. She needed a solid breakfast to power through the day.

Amelia?

She turned around, surprised to see Will standing just a few steps behind her.

Will? What are you doing here?

Will grinned and pointed at the building she’d just come out of. I live right there.

Amelia’s eyes widened. Seriously? Me too! I’m in buil—

Shh. Will made a quiet sign with his finger. Don’t say your apartment number out loud, not even to an old friend. You’re on your own here.

You’re right, Amelia said, getting it. I just got excited to see you.

Will was dressed super casual today—a crisp white shirt over a white tee, jeans, sneakers. He looked fresh and relaxed, handsome but not intimidating.

He had a bruise at the corner of his mouth, and there was a bandage on one cheek.

Seeing that, Amelia felt guilty all over again.

Mr. Jackson, I want to buy a place. Need to move in today. If I can’t buy, rent is fine. Right across from West Medicine.

Amelia stuck her head out. Will, spicy or no spice?

He gave her an OK sign.

After she ducked back inside, he kept talking. If you can, make it a whole townhouse.

Running into Amelia here wasn’t really luck. He’d found out from Diana that Amelia was starting a project with West Medicine, so he’d driven almost an hour, hoping to bump into her.

Guess luck was finally on his side.

Will didn’t notice the black Mercedes idling further down the street, or the man in the back seat whose icy stare could have burned a hole through him.

In the front seat, Francisco could practically feel the temperature drop from the back.

Francisco. Ryan’s voice was cold enough to chill the air. You know that guy, right? Take care of it.

Francisco almost groaned. He reluctantly got out of the car and headed straight for Will.

Mr. Dillion!

Packman Global had branches in finance, real estate, media, AI, and new energy all over the world. As Ryan’s assistant, Francisco was expected to know a little bit about everything.
