Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 435

Clive zoned out for a second, memories flooding back of that day. Amelia had been so happy, like a kid, talking a mile a minute at the grave, most of it just to praise him.

It was strange, but he could still picture her face so clearly—all those lively little expressions, like she was the happiest woman on earth.

“Clive, what’s on your mind?” Kristen asked quietly, her arm linked with his.

“Nothing,” Clive said, brushing it off. He nudged Penny and Timmy toward the headstone. “Since we’re here, you should pay your respects to your grandmother.”

Penny, never one to overthink, immediately dropped to her knees and bowed her head, taking it all very seriously. “Hello, Grandma. I’m Penny.”

“Dad, why didn’t you ever tell us Grandma was buried here? And why haven’t you brought us before?” Timmy piped up, unable to hide the accusation in his voice. He really thought his dad treated their mom terribly.

Clive’s patience wore thin. “Your grandmother died a long time ago. I never even met her. From now on, we’ll come every year.”

Kristen’s eyes flicked to the black-and-white photo of Norma on the gravestone. The corners of her mouth lifted in the slightest, coldest smirk. When she was alive, her mother had kept this woman under her thumb. Now that she was gone, her grandmother did the same.

The Sadinton family—doomed to stay beneath us forever.

“Clive, since I’m here, I should pay my respects too,” Kristen said sweetly. “It’s only right.”

Clive hesitated, a small frown forming. “You want to?”

It was Amelia’s mom, after all. Having Kristen offer incense felt... off. But Kristen was already reaching for three sticks, acting all sincere as she got ready to bow.

Suddenly, Amelia’s furious voice sliced through the silence. “Get away from my mother’s grave! Don’t you dare dirty it!”

Kristen barely had time to turn before a bunch of white chrysanthemums hit her square in the face—once, twice. Petals and stems flew everywhere.

“Ah!” Kristen shrieked, scrambling to hide behind Clive.

Clive grabbed Amelia’s wrist. “What are you doing?”

Amelia didn’t miss a beat. She kneed at him, aiming low. If Clive hadn’t been quick, all that training would’ve meant nothing—she might have seriously hurt him.
