Amelia didn’t know exactly who Aaron was, but just one look told her he was not someone you wanted to cross.
She rushed over, grabbed Diana, and handed her off to Miranda for support.
“Sorry about this. My friend’s had a little too much tonight. If you want, I can replace your clothes,” Amelia said, stepping between Diana and the man, trying to smooth things over.
Aaron’s eyes landed on Amelia, his amber gaze narrowing behind his glasses. He was sure he’d seen her face before.
“Mr. Morris!” Will called out as he strode over, looking both familiar and respectful.
Back when Will was abroad, he’d dealt with Aaron’s company more than once. They’d run into each other at events—one was old money, the other a rising tech star—so they both knew the drill.
Aaron gave Will a nod, already slipping off his jacket. His assistant, Quinn, caught it and tossed it straight into the trash without a second thought.
“Sorry about this, Mr. Morris. They’re all friends of mine. Diana’s had a rough time tonight—someone at work tried something shady, and she’s been through a lot,” Will explained, his gaze drifting to Collin, the bald guy sulking nearby. The hint was clear. “I know your jacket was custom made. If there’s anything I can do—”
“It’s fine. Don’t worry about it,” Aaron said, his tone cool. He glanced at Diana, who finally realized what she’d done.
Diana pressed her palms together in apology, bowing her head like a guilty kid.
Aaron didn’t say anything.
The elevator chimed open. Aaron strode in without looking back, Quinn right behind him. Collin shot Diana a look that could kill and moved to follow, but Quinn blocked the door.
“Sorry, Mr. Collin. Mr. Morris has a private appointment. Please catch the next one.”
“Of course, of course,” Collin said, bowing and scraping.
