Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 464

Now that Daddy was marrying Momma Kristen, her real mom would probably end up marrying someone else too. And when that happened, Penny was sure her mom wouldn’t want her anymore.

The thought hit Penny so hard she couldn’t stop the tears. Big, hot drops slid down her cheeks as she started to cry.

Clive thought Penny was just upset about him marrying Kristen. He tried to calm her down, his voice soft and gentle. “Momma Kristen can come be with you whenever you want, sweetheart. Don’t cry, okay? Daddy has to head out for a bit, but I’ll ask Donna to look after you and Timmy.”

But Penny just cried harder, her little body hiccuping with every sob.

Timmy stepped in and gently pulled her into his arms. “Dad, it’s fine. Donna’s here. I can look after Penny too.”

Clive ruffled Timmy’s hair, checked the time—he was running late. He went to his room, changed quickly, and slipped out of the house.

Driving away, his phone started buzzing. Kristen. Clive glanced at the screen, let out a long breath, and ignored the call.

But she called again. And again. As soon as one call ended, the next started up. Kristen clearly wasn’t going to give up until he picked up.

Clive’s patience was wearing thin. He hadn’t realized how relentless Kristen could be.

By the sixth call, he finally put on his Bluetooth and answered, his expression tight.

“Yeah?”

“Clive, why won’t you answer me? I talked to Aiden—he said you didn’t go to the office. Are you home? Should I come over?” Kristen’s voice came rapid-fire, full of panic and questions.

Clive kept his voice even, trying not to let his annoyance show. “No, I’m out running errands. My phone was on silent.”
