Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 465

Clive showed up at Between the Clouds before Amelia. She wasn’t running late—he’d just gotten there a good fifteen minutes early.

He picked their usual spot by the window, the one they always claimed back in the day. The city outside was lighting up in neon as night crept in. Clive watched people stroll by—students, young couples, arms linked and laughing, lost in their own worlds. For once, it was him waiting on Amelia. It used to always be the other way around.

“Salmeron!” The owner bustled over, looking genuinely surprised to see him.

She was a warm, round woman with a big, friendly smile. This place wasn’t cheap, but Clive always liked the vibe, and a few dishes here were his favorites. He came by whenever he could, so he was definitely a regular—and with his looks, he was hard to forget.

“Salmeron, you and Ms. Sadinton got married, right?” she asked, eyes twinkling.

Clive managed a half-smile. “Yeah... we got married right after graduation.”

He left out the fact that they weren’t together anymore.

“That’s wonderful! We still have your photo from back then,” she said, a little envious as she pointed to a wall covered in couples’ pictures. Clive paused, then walked over.

There it was—his and Amelia’s photo, tacked up with the rest. Even surrounded by other couples, they stood out from the crowd, young and good-looking.

He remembered that Christmas during junior year. The place was running a promo—take a couples’ photo and get a discount. Clive didn’t care about saving a few bucks; honestly, he found the whole thing kind of embarrassing. But Amelia wouldn’t let it go. She grabbed his hand, dragged him over, saying a deal’s a deal, and besides, they’d never had a proper photo together. She said it quietly, but the place was so hushed, everyone heard. People stared. Clive was mortified, actually thinking Amelia was just trying to embarrass him.

He ended up posing anyway, looking annoyed in the photo, while Amelia looked genuinely happy.

They didn’t even finish that meal—he’d made up an excuse and left her there alone.

He’d been awful to her, back then.

“Hey, can I take this photo with me?” he asked quietly.

“Of course,” the owner said, grinning. “You can’t get enough of each other, huh? A photo’s not even enough.”
