Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 483

“Mr. Packman?” Francisco finished his report but got only silence on the other end, making him pause, confused.

Amelia took a breath. “It’s me, Francisco.”

There was a clatter, like Francisco nearly dropping his phone. “Ms. Sadinton! You heard all of that? Please, don’t get the wrong idea...”

Amelia jumped right in. “Just tell me the truth. Did Ryan build that care facility for my grandfather? Has he really been protecting him all this time?”

Francisco hesitated, then sighed. “Since you already know, I’ll be honest. Yes, it was Mr. Packman’s arrangement. But I only found out recently that Mr. Sadinton is your grandfather. The extra security was ordered by Mr. Packman right after Mr. Baker’s birthday.”

“I just did what he told me. If you want to know why, you’ll have to ask Mr. Packman yourself.”

Amelia fell silent, piecing the story together. Ryan must have found out about her bet with Hank from Mr. Baker. He’d guessed her plan and quietly played along, never letting it show...

Francisco started to panic in the silence. “Ms. Sadinton, I swear, Mr. Packman would never want to hurt you or your family!”

Amelia knew that much. With Ryan’s kind of power, if he really wanted to hurt her, she doubted she’d even have woken up.

She glanced at Ryan, who looked completely out of it—cheeks flushed, eyes glassy from too much alcohol and a fever. Her feelings were a mess. She pulled herself together and changed the subject. “Francisco, Ryan’s drunk and burning up. Where should I take him?”

Francisco sounded relieved. “Could you bring Mr. Packman back to Elmwood Manor? I’ll come right away.”

“Okay.”

As soon as the call ended, Francisco wiped sweat from his forehead and grinned to himself.

Perfect timing. Nailed it.

He really was the best assistant.

Amelia looked at the drunken Ryan and sighed quietly. She helped him into a chair.

“Wait here for me,” she said.

He was so out of it that he just nodded obediently.

At the door, she hesitated and glanced back. Ryan was looking right at her, flashing her a sweet, harmless smile.

He looked so well-behaved it was almost funny.

Amelia couldn’t help but soften a little inside.
