Mr. Baker glanced over, totally unsurprised. Instead, there was a sly, thoughtful look in his eyes. “See, I always wondered how the Watts family could have a daughter like Amelia. Their genes just don’t add up.”
The DNA test spelled it out in black and white—Amelia and Hank weren’t related by blood.
Mr. Baker might be old, but his mind was sharp as ever.
“Looks like there was more to Changle and Hank’s marriage than anyone knew. My guess? Old Tony knew something. Hank probably wanted to shut him up before the truth got out. Too bad for him, Amelia set a trap and waited for him to walk right in.”
Thinking of Amelia pulling one over on Hank made Mr. Baker chuckle.
“That girl’s got a mind of her own. She’s just like her grandmother used to be.”
There was something unreadable in Felix’s eyes.
“So, Grandpa, that means there’s no doubt. Amelia really is the Sadinton family’s daughter.”
Mr. Baker shot him a knowing look.
“What, you want to bring up that old engagement I made with the Sadinton family? Felix, are you actually interested in Amelia?”
Felix moved his chess piece and smiled. “She’s divorced now, right? No harm in trying.”
Mr. Baker gave his grandson a sharp look. “Arranged marriages are ancient history. Don’t think I’ll play matchmaker just for you.”
Felix leaned back, a lazy grin on his face. “Even if you tried, I doubt Amelia would care.”
Mr. Baker fixed him with a stern glare.
“Go chase whoever you want, but Amelia isn’t someone you play games with. If you mess around and leave her hanging, I’ll break your legs myself. Besides, I’m not sure she’d even give you the time of day.”
Felix looked a little helpless. “Grandpa, don’t listen to the gossip. And could you stop raining on your own grandson’s parade?”
After all, how do you know if you don’t try?
