Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 504

Amelia pulled up outside the restaurant where she was meeting Donna. When she walked in, Donna was already there, waving her over with a big smile.

“Ms. Sadinton, over here!” Donna called.

Amelia slid into the seat across from her and, after checking what Donna liked, ordered two of the house specialties and a soup for them to share.

While they waited for their food, Donna rummaged in her bag and pulled out a small sachet, handing it to Amelia.

“This is the sachet Kristen gave Penny,” Donna explained. “Penny keeps it right by her pillow every night. She has another one she carries around with her.”

Amelia brought the sachet to her nose. The scent wasn’t too strong at first, but after a moment, it made her head spin just a little. She could pick out a few familiar herbs, but there were definitely other things mixed in that she couldn’t place. She tried to take a bit out for testing, only to realize the sachet was completely sealed. She’d have to cut it open to get anything from inside.

“Take it home and check it out properly,” Donna said. “I’ll just tell Miss Penny I accidentally got it dirty while cleaning and had to throw it out. She gets dramatic, but her tantrums never last long. I’ll make her some snacks, and she’ll get over it.”

Penny was definitely a little princess—spoiled, sure, but not a bad kid. Donna had looked after her for years. She knew Penny would forgive her soon enough.

This really was the only way.

“Thank you, Donna. I know this is a lot,” Amelia said.

“Oh, Ms. Sadinton, don’t be so formal with me.” Donna glanced at her, taking in her face—still familiar, but somehow Amelia looked more beautiful than ever.

There was something brighter about her now. When she’d walked in earlier, she’d seemed to glow, catching the attention of more than a few people in the restaurant.

Donna’s happiness for her was genuine. “Ms. Sadinton, you’re like a whole new person these days. Honestly, leaving that marriage did wonders for you!”

Amelia smiled, warmth blooming in her chest. She knew Donna meant it.

“Thank you, Donna.”

Back when Amelia first married into the Salmeron family, most of the staff had treated her with thinly veiled contempt, taking their cues from the family. Donna was one of the rare few who’d always treated her with real respect.

Now Donna reached into her tote again and pulled out a few more things—some of Timmy’s stuff, including his favorite puzzle toys.
