Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 506

Robert ran his own lab, busy developing new eco-friendly materials. That afternoon, Amelia dropped by, carrying a sachet she wanted him to check out.

She snipped it open and poured the contents onto a tray. There were a few herbs she recognized, but also some white and red powders that she couldn’t identify. Those would need a proper analysis.

Robert slipped on his gloves and took a closer look, even giving the powders a cautious sniff. He had a hunch, though he’d need more tests to be sure.

“This is from Penny’s sachet?” he asked, glancing at Amelia. “It’ll take me some time to figure out exactly what’s in here, but whatever it is, kids shouldn’t be around these chemicals.”

Amelia let out a tired sigh. “Kristen gave it to her. Actually, she gave her more than one.”

Robert raised his eyebrows. “You should probably let Clive know.”

“Can you handle it?” she asked.

“Yeah, I’ll get on it right away. I’ll call you as soon as I have the results.”

Leaving Robert’s lab, Amelia drove back to West Medicine. She still had some paperwork to finish up. As she walked in, she passed the break room and saw a group of her coworkers crowded together, clearly buzzing about something.

“Ms. Sadinton!” They’d all worked together long enough that things were pretty relaxed these days.

“What’s going on? Did I miss something?” Amelia asked, curiosity getting the better of her.

One of the women, always the first to share gossip, waved her over, phone in hand. “Ms. Sadinton, look! The boss—Mr. Packman—got snapped by the paparazzi again with that Zoe Lennon. They were out shopping!”

Amelia looked at the screen. The photo was taken outside a fancy boutique. Zoe wore a fitted blue dress and was turning back to smile at Ryan, who appeared in profile, sharp and unreadable. He was holding a women’s handbag—Zoe’s, obviously.

The women around her were practically buzzing. “Didn’t Mr. Packman get papped with Miss Lennon when they flew back last time? He never used to show up in the tabloids. Now it’s twice in a month. The Packman family must be fine with it.”

“Well, of course! Zoe Lennon’s the youngest daughter of the shipping tycoon, and her mom is actual royalty. They’re a perfect match. I wouldn’t be surprised if they announce an engagement soon. This is probably just the build-up.”

“Ms. Sadinton, what do you think?”

Amelia tore her eyes away from the photo and smiled. “I have no idea. Anyway, let’s get back to work.”

The group slowly drifted back to their desks, giggling and whispering. Amelia returned to her office and had barely sat down before her phone rang—Ryan’s name on the screen.

She picked up, “Mr. Packman.”

There was a pause, like he’d been caught off guard. “Are you at work?”

“Yeah.”

“I’ll pick you up after you finish. Let’s grab dinner.”

“Timmy’s staying with me now. I need to pick him up from school and take him home. If you don’t mind, you can come over instead. It’ll be easier to talk.”

She did want to talk to him about his grandfather, and it wasn’t a conversation for a public place.

Ryan let out a soft laugh. “Alright, I’ll come by. You get Timmy, I’ll pick up some groceries.”

“I already have plans,” Ryan said, not missing a beat.

Zoe wasn’t giving up. “Who’s more important than me? Just cancel.”

“Francisco’s waiting. I’m leaving.” Ryan stood up. A staff member handed him his coat and he took it, then strode for the door.

Zoe hurried after him, annoyed. “Ryan, is it that girl—Am—”

She didn’t even get the name out. Ryan’s face turned cold, his hand shooting out to grip her arm.

Francisco, who’d just arrived, froze when he heard Zoe start to say that name. He didn’t dare intervene, just watched as Ryan dragged Zoe into the VIP lounge.

Zoe landed hard on the sofa, startled by the sudden chill in the room.

“Ryan…”

His eyes were icy. “Don’t ever let me hear you mention her name again. Don’t go near her. I won’t be responsible for what happens if you do.”

Francisco waited outside, finally breathing easy when Ryan came out, still looking furious.

Mr. Packman only tolerated Miss Lennon because of her family, but there were some lines you just couldn’t cross.

“Take her to the airport,” Ryan told Francisco, his voice flat and cold as he walked past.
