Karma Doesn’t Sleep: The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 507

Amelia wrapped up her work for the day, glanced at the clock, and realized it was about time to pick up Timmy.

Work at West Medicine was finally winding down, and her schedule was a little more flexible than usual. But once she switched over to the Green Wall Base project, she’d definitely need a nanny to help out with Timmy. Luckily, Donna was set to arrive in a couple of days and would help take some of the pressure off.

She drove over to the school, answering a quick message from one of her team while she waited in the car. When she looked up, she spotted Clive’s car pulling into the lot.

That caught her off guard. With all the drama going on with the Watts family, she hadn’t expected Clive to show up for Penny today.

She stayed in her car for a bit and watched. Only Clive got out—no Kristen in sight. Amelia pushed open her door and headed straight toward him.

Up close, she finally noticed how different he looked.

Clive was usually the definition of put together—born into privilege, obsessed with cleanliness, always dressed to impress, every detail just right.

But today, he looked like he’d been through the wringer. His hair was messy, his shirt was wrinkled, and his whole vibe was just… tired. It was like he’d aged years in just a few days.

Their eyes met, and Clive’s lips tugged into a half-hearted, unreadable smile. “Seems like you’re doing better than ever since the divorce, Amelia.”

Every time he saw her now, it threw him off. Same person, same face, but she somehow seemed brighter, more alive—like there was a spark in her he’d never noticed before.

Clive’s throat felt scratchy, and he instinctively reached for his cigarettes, but then remembered they were at a school and shoved the pack back in his pocket.

There was too much between them for polite chit-chat.

He got straight to it. “If Timmy needs anything, I’ll have someone send it over. If he wants to come back and you’re busy, just call me—”

He paused, remembering she’d already blocked his number. He corrected himself, “Call the driver and he’ll pick Timmy up. I won’t be able to come by for a few days.”

“Timmy’s fine. He doesn’t need anything,” Amelia said, her gaze lingering on the stubble shadowing Clive’s jaw. She knew he was running himself ragged for Kristen.

For the sake of the kids, she offered a quiet warning. “You can’t fix things with Hank. Don’t waste your time.”

“You could help, but you won’t,” Clive shot back, locking eyes with her.

It was almost funny—he was still disappointed in her.
