Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 588

She’d been so scared back then that she couldn’t help but cry.

Afterward, her grandpa felt awful about it. He spent ages comforting her, explaining everything as gently as he could. He told her there was a hidden room under the house where he kept his collection of old medical books—a secret place for his most important research, and it was off-limits to everyone.

“Amelia, if Grandpa’s project works out, I’ll finally achieve my biggest dream!”

Of course, she had to ask, “Grandpa, what’s your biggest dream?”

But he never gave her an answer.

From then on, that secret room became their shared secret.

“Amelia, promise me you’ll never go in there. Not ever.”

Now, standing in front of the open passageway, Amelia murmured, “Sorry, Grandpa. I’m about to break that promise.”

She hadn’t been able to stop thinking about Ryan’s illness these past few days. It was driving her crazy. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she remembered Grandpa mentioning a rare old book that had a formula for regenerating blood—something that just might help Ryan.

If the book was that important, it had to be here.

She lit a candle. Before stepping inside, she figured she’d better let someone she trusted know where she was, just in case she got trapped or something went wrong.

Right on cue, her phone rang. It was Diana.

“Amelia! I just finished filming! Guess what? I’ll be at your place in two minutes—aren’t you surprised?”

She could hear Miranda’s voice in the background too.

“Hi Amelia! I’m here with her!”

Amelia texted back, “Hey Miranda, don’t get out of the car yet. I’m not home, but I’ll send you the address.”

About forty minutes later, Diana showed up in a whirlwind, with Miranda right behind her.

“Babe!” Diana pulled Amelia into a huge hug. “Did you miss me? Wait, did you really buy your old place back?”

As Diana looked around, she spotted the open passageway in the wall, looking dark and a little creepy.

Diana’s eyes twinkled, but she kept quiet.

Amelia handed Diana a candle and together they started down the stairs.

“Hey, who’s this guy anyway?” Diana nudged Amelia’s arm.

“What?” Amelia looked at her, confused.

Diana wiggled her eyebrows, all teasing. “The guy who’s faster than the police! Come on, spill it—is there something you’re not telling me?”

Amelia just stayed quiet, and Diana grinned even wider, pretending to stroke an imaginary beard like a detective.

“Silent means yes! I knew it! The moment I leave town, you go and find yourself a secret romance. Honestly, with how gorgeous and smart you are—not to mention rich—I bet there’s a line of guys chasing after you that stretches all the way to my movie set. So, tell me, who’s the lucky one that finally caught your attention?”

Amelia sighed, a little exasperated. “You’re imagining things. He’s just…”

But what was Ryan to her, really?
