Amelia had just tossed the used gauze in the trash when she turned around and saw Cameron charging toward her, his anger written all over his face.
She frowned, instantly annoyed, and started to walk away.
But Cameron wasn’t about to let her off that easily.
“Amelia!” He caught up with her in a few quick strides, stepping right in front of her, blocking her path. That same smug, superior look was plastered on his face. “What, you see an old friend and try to run? Feeling guilty or what?”
He scoffed, voice full of contempt. “Honestly, can’t you have a little shame? You and Clive are divorced. Stop showing up in front of him all the time.”
Amelia had just finished a blood draw and was running on fumes. She didn’t have the energy or patience for this.
“Get out of my way.”
Cameron just sneered, the disgust in his eyes obvious. “Let me guess, you thought getting divorced would scare Clive, but it backfired, and now you’re trying to play the victim? Do you even realize you’re the reason Kristen tried to take her own life? And now you’re here, chasing after Clive again, acting all pitiful. Aren’t you tired, Amelia?”
Amelia had been so focused on helping someone earlier, she hadn’t even noticed where she was. Now it hit her—this was a Henson family hospital.
Just then, Belle came back carrying a bag with some hot soup. She spotted Amelia immediately, and even from across the lobby, she could tell something was wrong. Amelia looked pale and miserable, and some guy was in her face, refusing to let her go.
Belle’s temper flared. In the middle of a hospital, with people and security cameras everywhere, this jerk was really harassing someone?
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?!” Belle shouted, marching over and swinging her purse straight at Cameron’s head.
Her bag was packed with her phone and a power bank—heavy enough to make Cameron stumble as he protected his head, caught completely off guard.
Belle shoved the hot soup into Amelia’s hands and turned back, ready for round two.
“You creep! This is a hospital, and you’re harassing women in public! Didn’t your mom ever teach you to respect women? Security! Someone call security!”
“Enough already!” Cameron snapped, grabbing Belle’s wrist, his face twisted in anger. “Crazy woman! No wonder you hang out with someone like Amelia—”
