Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 606

“I’ll drive you home, Ms. Sadinton,” Francisco said. “Your car’s already at the shop. It’ll be waiting for you in your spot by tomorrow morning.”

“Thanks for taking care of it, Francisco.”

He flashed her a bright smile. “It’s nothing. Happy to help.”

Ryan walked Amelia all the way to the door. “Text me when you get home, okay?”

“I will. See you.” She waved at him and turned to leave. Ryan watched her go, but then suddenly closed the distance in two long strides, reaching out to pull her back into his arms.

Francisco, picking up on the vibe, called out, “I’ll wait for you in the car, Ms. Sadinton!” and quickly made himself scarce.

With the third wheel gone, Ryan leaned in and whispered, “Do you really have to leave?” There was a little pout in his voice.

Amelia burst out laughing. She reached up and pinched his cheek. “Mr. Packman, I had no idea you were such a clingy boyfriend.”

He raised an eyebrow. “You’re stuck with me now. No returns.”

Amelia’s smile deepened, her eyes shining with mischief. She glanced over to make sure Francisco was in the car, then stood on tiptoe and planted a quick kiss on Ryan’s cheek.

“I really have to go. I’ll come see you when I’m done with work.”

She gently wriggled free from his arms and hurried to the car. As they pulled away, she checked the rearview mirror and saw Ryan still standing there, his figure growing smaller and smaller until he finally disappeared from view.

Francisco was all smiles, practically glowing with happiness the whole ride. His favorite couple had finally gotten together.

The car stopped at the curb just outside her apartment complex.

“Ms. Sadinton, want me to sign in at the gate and walk you in?” Francisco offered.

“No need. It’s only a few steps. If you come in, you’ll have to make a big loop to get out again.”

Amelia hopped out and waved goodbye. Once Francisco drove off, she turned and walked toward her building, pulling out her phone as she went.

“All this time, I thought it was Kristen who gave me blood and saved my life back in college. I only found out today I was wrong.” His eyes were full of guilt. “It was you, Amelia. You saved me.”

And back then, he’d lied to her, claiming his cousin was sick and needed to get stronger, tricking Amelia into brewing herbal tonics for Kristen for a whole year.

Clive pressed his face into his hands, taking a shaky breath before meeting her eyes again.

“Why didn’t you tell me sooner? Why didn’t you say you were the one who saved me? If you had, I wouldn’t have felt like I owed Kristen. I wouldn’t have hired her… maybe we’d still be married.”

Even now, he was blaming everyone but himself. Always the victim, always with an excuse.

Amelia stared at him, cold and unmoved, suddenly finding it all ridiculous. She’d hated him once, but now, she realized she didn’t even care enough to hate him anymore.

He just looked like a sad clown.

“Clive, you’re hopeless. If it hadn’t been Kristen, it would’ve been someone else. You’re the problem here. You’re selfish. You only ever loved yourself. Honestly, someone like you deserves to end up alone.”
