Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 609

A deafening clap of thunder shook the sky, and a sudden autumn rain came pouring down. Outside the gates of Sycamore Estate, Francisco stood patiently, umbrella in hand.

Through the curtain of rain, a sleek black sedan pulled up and stopped. The assistant stepped out first, popped open an umbrella, then opened the back door and shielded Aaron from the downpour as he got out.

Francisco stepped forward respectfully. “Mr. Morris, Mr. Packman is waiting for you in the study.”

Aaron nodded slightly and followed Francisco inside.

Both Francisco and Aaron’s assistant stayed outside the study door. They exchanged polite nods, settling into the silent job of guarding the entrance.

Inside, Aaron ignored Ryan, who was sprawled in a chair messing around on his phone. Aaron flipped open his laptop, typed a few commands, and quickly connected to the project’s data files.

“Here. The data for this section doesn’t match our predictions, and we can’t get it to work. You take care of it.” He spun the screen toward Ryan, then leaned back in his chair, totally at ease. “You were the world’s top physicist in your last life. Shouldn’t this be a breeze for you?”

Ryan snorted. “Last life? You talk like I died and came back.”

“Being ripped apart and put back together atom by atom… that’s gotta hurt worse than just dying, right?” Aaron replied. “From that angle, you had it rougher than anyone.”

Lightning flashed through the rain outside, a streak of white across the sky. Ryan squinted against the glare. He guessed he was lucky he hadn’t been struck down by lightning that day.

He fixed Aaron’s problem, then scrolled through the rest of the project updates, a smirk tugging at his lips.

He wasn’t sure if standing on the shoulders of giants let you see farther, but Aaron standing on his shoulders was definitely going to get rich and powerful in no time.

Aaron was strict about time. He checked his watch and stood to leave. Right before he stepped out, a rare moment of conscience made him pause. “Need me to help with anything else?”

Ryan looked up. “Just do your part. I’ll handle the rest.”

“Alright.”

The rain had stopped by the time Aaron left. As he walked down the hallway, he glanced out the window and saw a whole patch of yellow roses already tucked safely under a rain shelter.

That same day, Amelia spent her hours in the pharmacy, brewing medicine.

By evening, the medicine was ready. She packed it into two bags, just as the sound of a car horn—two quick beeps—came from outside.

Carrying the medicine, Amelia stepped out to see a car door swing open. George sat inside, calm and collected, flashing her a refined smile.

“Ms. Sadinton, I’m here to pick up the medicine.”

Amelia barely glanced at him, handing the bags to Paxton, who had gotten out to meet her.

“There’s enough for a week. I wrote instructions on a note inside. I’ll check on Mr. Packman again in a week.”

Paxton gave her the same polite, emotionless smile as his boss. “Thank you for your hard work, Ms. Sadinton.”

Amelia didn’t feel like chatting, and was about to walk away when George called after her. “Ms. Sadinton, thank you for making the medicine. Can I give you a ride home?”

“No, thanks,” she replied over her shoulder, not bothering to turn around.

George watched her walk away, then looked at the medicine bags Paxton was holding and smiled. “Let’s go.”

She dropped her tray at the return station and left.

Green Wall Base had a few exits. Today, Amelia took the west gate, which opened onto a gorgeous road lined with golden sycamore trees, their leaves swaying in the breeze.

A black Maybach waited by the curb. Ryan leaned against the hood, tall and striking, patiently waiting.

The golden hour sunlight lit him up, and Amelia had to squint just to look at him.

He looked like he’d just stepped out of a painting.

Ryan spotted her too. He walked a couple steps in her direction, then stopped and watched as his princess jogged toward him.

He smiled, opened his coat, and caught her in a warm hug.

“Came to pick you up from work, Princess.”

Her hands, still a little chilly, slipped under his coat to warm against his back as she looked up at him, grinning.

“You drove all this way just for me? That’s sweet. But by the time I saw your text, I was already halfway through dinner in the cafeteria.” Her lips moved as she talked, the gloss making them look extra tempting.

Ryan waited for her to finish, then bent down and kissed her.

“Then let’s skip dinner and do something more fun.”
