Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 614

Michael let out a heavy sigh, the bitterness sitting at the back of his throat.

The three of them had basically grown up together—Cameron, Clive, and him. They were more like brothers than friends, and to Michael, Cameron and Clive were family. So how had things ended up so messed up between them?

He couldn’t help but feel a wave of disgust at Kristen. Honestly, thank God he’d never been into her type, or all three of them would have ended up as her puppets.

If Kristen hadn’t started all this drama, none of them would’ve ended up hating Amelia. Clive and Amelia probably would’ve worked things out. Cameron would’ve thrown a few sarcastic comments her way, but Amelia would have let it go for Clive’s sake.

Everything could have just kept moving forward, but now…

Michael flopped down next to Cameron on the couch.

He was about to say something when Cameron’s phone started buzzing on the coffee table. Kristen’s name flashed on the screen.

Michael rolled his eyes, totally losing his cool. “Unbelievable. She actually has the guts to call you? After everything she’s put you and Clive through? I can’t believe nobody’s lost it on her yet!”

Cameron stared at the screen, his emotions all tangled up. Kristen had always been his dream girl. Now, he didn’t even know how to feel.

Michael saw the look in Cameron’s eyes and just wanted to shake him. “If you can’t cut her off, let me do it. I’ll block her right now.”

He reached for the phone, but Cameron was quicker, grabbing it first and shoving it into his pocket.

“I’ll deal with it. You don’t have to get involved,” Cameron muttered, letting the phone keep ringing.

Michael threw up his hands. “How are you going to deal with it? Clive already announced he canceled the engagement and blocked her everywhere. That’s what handling it looks like!” He glanced at the bags under Cameron’s eyes, frustration bubbling over. “I swear, Kristen is like a vampire. She latches on and just drains people dry.”

“I screwed up. I lied. I just want to apologize to you in person, to say I’m sorry.” Kristen’s voice cracked as she started to cry. “Cameron, my parents are in jail because of Amelia. Clive broke off our engagement. If I stay here, I’m just a joke to everyone. I want to leave Alson Creek. There’s nothing left here for me.”

The thought of her leaving made Cameron’s throat close up. He almost blurted out for her to stay, but swallowed the words.

“When are you leaving?”

“Tomorrow morning. Before I go, you’re the one person I want to see.”

Cameron hesitated, surprised. Kristen went on, “Cameron, I’m not coming back. There are things I need to say to you in person. If I don’t say them now, I’ll never get another chance.”

He was silent for a long moment. “Where are you? I’ll come to you.”
