Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 626

By the time Jinx managed to get up, Penny was already sitting right where Jinx had wanted to be. She was laughing and clapping with the kid next to her, acting like Jinx wasn’t even there, like she hadn’t just pushed her out of the way.

“Jinx!” Amelia rushed over, kneeling to check Jinx’s hands. Sure enough, Jinx’s palm was scraped and bleeding.

The mom of the kid who pushed Jinx hurried over, her face full of awkward apology. “I’m so sorry, Jinx’s mom. My daughter probably just wasn’t paying attention. Is Jinx okay?”

Amelia wasn’t buying it for a second. She’d seen the way that little girl glanced at Penny just after shoving Jinx—it was obvious Penny had given her the go-ahead.

Penny was the queen bee of their class, way more popular than Jinx. When Penny liked Jinx, everyone followed along. Now that she’d turned on her, the other kids had followed suit.

Jinx tried to be brave. “Mrs. Sadinton, it doesn’t hurt,” she said, even though her hand was still bleeding.

Amelia scooped Jinx up and looked straight at Penny, disappointment all over her face. “Penny, do you know what you’re doing?”

Penny looked a little guilty, but before she could say anything, Kristen jumped in, all defensive. “I don’t think Penny did anything wrong.”

Amelia’s eyes narrowed, ice-cold. “Who asked for your input?”

Clive tried to smooth things over. “Amelia, I’m sure Penny didn’t mean for this to happen…”

“Move,” Amelia snapped, brushing past him without a second thought. She wasn’t in the mood for any excuses.

With so many kids and parents around, Amelia kept her voice low as she turned to Ms. Arnold. “Sorry, Ms. Arnold. Jinx won’t be joining the next part. Do you have a first-aid kit? Her hand’s bleeding.”

“We do, it’s in the storage room. I’ll take you.” Ms. Arnold called another teacher to keep the games going and led Amelia and Jinx away.

She handed Amelia the first-aid kit and spoke gently. “Ms. Sadinton, today’s supposed to be about family. If there’s something going on between you adults, maybe save the conversation for after the event?”

“I understand,” Amelia said, apologetic. “Sorry for the trouble, Ms. Arnold.”

Ms. Arnold could see exactly what was happening. Amelia was clearly the wronged party here.

“You really don’t need to apologize. It’s impressive you’re holding it together,” she said.

Amelia gave a crooked little smile. “I’m not holding it together. I’m just waiting for the right moment to let it all out.”

“Who’s there? Amelia?” she called.

She had barely rounded the corner when a large, heavyset woman lunged at her out of nowhere.

“You homewrecker! You’ve got a lot of nerve showing up here!”

It was Shane’s mom. She’d wrapped a silk scarf around her face and looked ready for battle.

Shane’s mom was tall and strong, easily overpowering Kristen. She grabbed her by the hair and slapped her twice, hard. Kristen saw stars. Before she could react, Shane’s mom stepped back and slammed her shoulder into Kristen, knocking her right into the wall.

As Kristen tried to scream in pain, the stall door swung open and Amelia stepped out, holding a bucket of filthy water. She dumped it right onto Kristen’s face.

Kristen gasped and choked, coughing up dirty water as she collapsed to the floor, gagging.

Amelia stared down at her, voice ice-cold. “Kristen, that’s payback for the bucket of garbage you threw at me. And this is just the beginning. Every time I see you, I’ll make sure you regret it.”

If Clive wasn’t going to deal with Kristen, Amelia would do it herself.
