Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 627

While Kristen was still sprawled on the floor, Amelia and Shane’s mom slipped out of the bathroom and wedged a broom handle through the door handles so Kristen couldn’t get out.

It was Shane’s mom’s first time helping someone teach a mistress a lesson, and she was almost giddy with excitement.

“That felt amazing! Women like her totally had it coming!” After her little burst, she glanced at Amelia with a worried look. “But Amelia, what if Kristen tattles to your ex? Do you think he’ll come after you?”

Of course, the universe delivered. Before Amelia could answer, Clive appeared at the end of the hall.

Amelia shot a look back at the bathroom door, pretty sure Clive was here to find Kristen.

Her disgust for him was bottomless.

He knew all the awful things Kristen had done, but he still defended her, still let her hang around Penny.

“Shane’s mom, you should go back,” Amelia said, wanting to keep her out of the mess.

“Are you sure you’ll be okay?” Shane’s mom asked, eyeing Clive warily. Amelia looked delicate, almost fragile, like a porcelain doll, and Clive was tall and looked every inch the jerk.

“I’ll be fine,” Amelia said with a small smile. “Shane and Timmy are waiting for you. I’ll be there soon.”

Shane’s mom finally left, but not without glancing back every few steps. If Clive tried anything for the sake of his mistress, she was ready to charge back in.

But as soon as Amelia got close, before Clive could even open his mouth, she slapped him—hard.

The crack of her palm echoed in the hallway.

Shane’s mom stopped in her tracks, stunned.

Timmy’s mom might look gentle, but she’s got fire.

Clive didn’t even try to defend himself. He just took the slap.

Once Shane’s mom saw Clive wasn’t going to fight back, she finally left.

“Feel better?” Clive asked, rubbing his stinging cheek. He looked at Amelia with a gentle smile. “Did you hurt your hand? Next time you should kick me. It’s easier.”

Amelia’s eyes were icy. “Are you seriously standing here trying to act like you care?”

“Amelia, I know I messed up. I just want to explain. I didn’t ask Kristen to come, I swear. After today, I promise you’ll never see her again.”

Amelia let out a cold laugh. “I don’t care. From now on, every time I see her, I’ll hit her again.”

She nodded toward the bathroom. “Your precious darling is in there. If you want to play hero, go save her. I’m done with this.”

But Clive ignored the bathroom and hurried after Amelia.

“Amelia, I’m really done with Kristen. I didn’t know she’d show up today, I—” He broke off as Amelia suddenly stopped.

He knew Clive wasn’t even worthy of being his rival anymore.

The warm-up games were over, and everyone moved out to the field for the next round of parent-child activities.

Jinx still wasn’t comfortable around Ryan, but he was patient with her, carrying her water bottle and fanning her to keep her cool.

His looks were a hit with everyone, and soon Jinx was calling him “Uncle Ryan” and getting bolder.

“Uncle Ryan, can you win the tug-of-war cake-eating contest? The prize is a giant white teddy bear and I really want one.”

The game was simple: two dads, tied together with a bungee cord, pulled in opposite directions while their kids fed them cake. Whoever finished first won.

“If you want it, we’ll win it,” Ryan told her.

His tone was calm but so confident it was impossible not to believe him.

Jinx bounced up and down with excitement. Amelia watched the two of them, unable to stop herself from smiling as she snapped a few photos.

Timmy ran over during a break.

“Mom!” he shouted, eyes lighting up when he saw Ryan. “Uncle Ryan! You’re here!”

From the way her son reacted, Amelia could tell those two had been keeping some secrets from her.
