Karma Doesn’t Sleep The Revenge Queen Rises novel Chapter 657

“After you, Ms. Sadinton,” Cameron said, flashing a polite smile that didn’t reach his eyes. No matter how much she annoyed him, he needed her right now. In business, that was the first rule—there were no permanent enemies, only permanent interests.

Amelia walked through the research center with Cameron and his team, checking out their top two projects. The first was a biosensor for early cancer screening, designed to spot cancer risks from a simple body fluid sample. The other was a targeted drug for pediatric neuroblastoma, meant to wipe out cancer cells without harming healthy ones.

Both project teams were sharp and professional. Cameron, for all his flaws, knew how to treat talent. He’d spared no expense on their labs, and the pay was some of the best in the country.

Amelia was clearly interested. She took her time reviewing the first drug’s formula, quickly spotting something off. She launched into a detailed discussion with the project lead, her voice confident and sure. Cameron hovered nearby, completely out of his depth. He couldn’t even follow the conversation, let alone add anything.

This was the first time Cameron saw Amelia at work. He’d always thought of her as timid and unsure, but now, watching her focused and in control, he realized how wrong he’d been. She was steady, her eyes sharp and calm—like a completely different person.

“Mr. Henson.” Greg stepped into Cameron’s line of sight with a polite smile. “Looks like Amelia will be a while. Want to show me around?”

Cameron pulled his gaze away. “Sure.”

Amelia ended up talking for over an hour. When she finally looked up, the whole project team had gathered, some even scribbling notes like students at a lecture.

Across the hallway, Cameron watched through the glass, taking a slow sip of coffee.

Greg joined him. “If she hadn’t married Clive,” he said quietly, “this is the kind of life Amelia would have had.”

Cameron glanced at him.

Greg met his eyes, a knowing smile on his face. “You’re lucky, Mr. Henson. Your dad being old friends with Dr. Wade really worked out. Landing Amelia as your consultant? That’s a win.”

Cameron couldn’t help but notice—everyone around Amelia was fiercely protective of her.

It was time to sign the contract. Amelia went through the details, found nothing out of place, and they both signed.

“Looking forward to working together, Amelia,” Cameron said, offering his hand for the first time.

Cameron paused in the hallway, hesitating. “Clive, there’s something I haven’t had a chance to tell you…”

Meanwhile, Clive was parking his car. “What is it?” he asked, distracted as he pulled into a spot.

Just then, he spotted a Maybach gliding past. The window was down partway, and he caught a glimpse of Ryan’s sharp, handsome profile.

Clive froze, surprised to see Ryan here. The next second, a familiar figure hurried out the main entrance.

It was Amelia.

Right then, Cameron’s voice came through the phone, almost overlapping with the scene in front of Clive.

“Our company hired Amelia as a consultant. My dad set it up—I didn’t know it would be her…”
