Chapter 155
Eowyn froze. Wait, why is Leon standing at the door?‘
And at that moment, he was staring at her coldly through the crack in the door.
Eowyn hesitated, torn between opening the door to let him in or just slamming it shut and acting like she
hadn’t seen him at all.
Just then, a sudden sound of a door opening came from the room next door. Eowyn jumped in surprise, quickly opened the door, and pulled Leon inside.
Leon frowned and tried to ask. “What are you-
But before he could finish, Eowyn clapped her hand over his mouth to silence him. She then carefully nudged the door until it was open just a sliver and leaned in to sneak a look down the hallway.
Sure enough, she saw Jasmine and the man walking out. The man shot her a greasy grin, saying, “Ms. Ingram, I don’t have much patience. You’ve got one month. If you don’t get me the money by then, you’ll face the consequences.”
Jasmine glared at him coldly. “Fine. Just make sure you stay out of my sight for the whole month! If Nicolas gets suspicious because of you, you won’t see a single cent!”
Paul only shrugged, watched Jasmine leave, and then went back into his room.
Only then did Eowyn close the door and turn to Harvey, who was lounging on the couch. “Hey, did you hear that? There’s definitely something fishy going on between Jasmine and that guy!”
“I didn’t catch what they said outside, but I can already see you’re gonna be in for some real trouble,” Harvey said, a smirk on his face, clearly enjoying the drama.
Eowyn froze and suddenly realized the warmth in her palm.
‘Oh my god!‘ she thought, her heart skipping a beat. ‘I’m still covering Leon’s mouth!‘
She snatched her hand back like she’d touched a hot stove, flashing Leon a sheepish, awkward grin. “Well… What a coincidence,” she said. “Here we are again.”
Leon didn’t say a word. He just fixed her with that cold, unreadable stare.
He exuded an overwhelming presence.
Eowyn felt like she was the defendant in a murder trial.
“Are you here to see Harvey?” she fumbled for something to say. “Well, I’ll just leave you two to it then. I’m outta here.”
With that, she practically lunged for her bag, desperate to make her escape.
“So when exactly did you become so interested in my nephew?” Leon’s eyes flicked between Eowyn and Harvey, his tone dripping with jealousy that he didn’t even notice himself. “First you strip him, and now you’re getting a room?”
Harvey, who’d been lounging back and enjoying the show, nearly slid right off the couch.
“Eowyn, when the hell did you ever take my clothes off?” Harvey shouted.
Eowyn was speechless. “You were drunk and throwing up! I was only trying to help you, okay?”
“Yeah, if I’d shown up a little later, you’d probably have had all his clothes off,” Leon “helpfully” added.
Of the two men there, one of them looked ready to set the place on fire, while the other could’ve frozen the room solid.
Eowyn was stuck between the two, wishing she could vanish right then and there.
‘Are they teaming up just to mess with me?‘ she thought, totally exasperated. ‘See? A man’s beauty is no guarantee of grace. What dazzles the eye may yet sear the soul.
“Hey, I just unbuttoned two of his shirt buttons so he could breathe a little, okay?” Eowyn argued, jabbing a finger at Harvey. “And, like I said that night, even if he stripped off and started dancing naked right in front of me, I wouldn’t be interested in the slightest!”
Leon arched an eyebrow, his features finally easing a bit.
Harvey glared at her, his expression visibly annoyed. “Damn it! Stripping and dancing? Me? Eowyn, what the hell goes through your head anyway?”
Eowyn just shrugged, letting him complain. ‘Fine, go ahead and scold me. All I wanted was to prove my innocence anyway,’ she thought.
“If you’re not interested in Harvey, then why’d you two end up getting a room together?” Leon pressed.
“Well… We were spying on someone,” Eowyn hurried to explain. “The woman who just left is Jasmine. She’s my best friend’s mortal enemy!”
“That’s true!” Harvey jumped in. “Otherwise, why would I ever come to a place like this to get a room with her? I have zero interest in her. You know what kind of woman I actually like.”
Leon did know Harvey’s type was Zoya, who used to be his squad captain back in the military.
And as soon as Zoya got married, Harvey took off overseas.
“If there’s nothing else, I’m heading out,” Harvey said, getting up to leave.
“Hey, wait!” Eowyn called after him. “Don’t forget to check out the guy who was with Jasmine today. I’m pretty sure they’re mixed up in some shady cash deal, and it seems like he’s got some serious leverage on her.”
“Yeah, I’m on it,” Harvey said, giving a casual wave as he strode out the door.
The room went dead silent instantly.
Only then did Eowyn realize she and Leon were the only ones left there.
“Well, I guess I should go too,” she said, already moving toward the door. But Leon quickly extended his arm, blocking her way.
“Aren’t you going to say something?” he asked, his eyes never leaving hers.
Eowyn blinked innocently. “Uh, what am I supposed to say… Oh, right! The room’s taken care of, paid for already, so you don’t have to worry.”
Leon clenched his jaw so hard that veins in his forehead started to throb.
All these years, no one else could piss him off this quickly. Only Eowyn had that effect.
“Eowyn, so you’d actually get a room with a man just to follow someone and pry into their business?” he said in a low voice.
“Come on, it was with Harvey! Not like I just got a room with some random guy,” Eowyn protested.
“And Harvey doesn’t count a guy now?” Leon snapped, the veins in his forehead ready to burst.
Eowyn almost blurted out, ‘Yes, he doesn’t! Harvey’s like a younger brother to me!‘
“What if it hadn’t been Harvey by your side? What if it were your colleague, your assistant, or just any other guy? Would
you drag him into a hotel room, too?” Leon suddenly leaned in, his gaze intense and almost predatory.
Eowyn couldn’t help shrinking her shoulders, feeling creeped out by the look he was giving her. “Of course… I wouldn’t. Harvey and I are both on team Zoya and totally can’t stand Jasmine.
“That’s the only reason I dragged him along. Besides, Harvey isn’t my type! Seriously, I’d never even think about making a move on him.”
Leon’s eyes narrowed. “Then who do you want to make a move on, Eowyn?”
“Well, for sure, not you!” Eowyn shot back before she could bite her tongue. The second the words were out, she saw Leon’s face go stormy all at once.

Zoya stepped out of the military district, having just reported to Arthur about Wren’s security details. But more importantly, she’d finally gotten some intel about her brother’s whereabouts.
“We’ve got a lead,” the military officer told her. “Someone spotted a military drone, and its serial number matches one your brother used to operate. We’ve already dispatched a team to investigate and recover the drone. Once we know more, you’ll be the first to hear.”
Zoya’s eyes lit up. ‘Finally… a few more clues!

Even if it was just a drone, it meant she was a step closer to tracking down her brother.
When Zoya got back to the apartment she shared with Wren, he looked over and asked, “Hey, you look really cheerful. Did something good happen today?”
“Yeah, it’s actually great news. I finally got a lead about my brother,” Zoya said happily.
In an instant, Wren’s hand trembled, and he accidentally spilled coffee all over himself as he tried to hand her
the cup.
