“What’s going on? Why did the power suddenly go out?” someone asked.

The crowd burst into an uproar, while the dancers on stage all came to a halt.

Immediately afterward, the staff activated the backup power, and their voice came through the loudspeaker. “Sorry. We’re having some technical issues tonight and won’t be able to continue the show.”

“Seriously? We made a special trip just for this!” one of the audience members protested.

“Exactly! Didn’t you guys even check the equipment before the show?” another

person

called out.

The audience began to complain, but the next words from the staff silenced all the grumbling.

“To make it up to you, we’ll pay you back three times your ticket price! And if you bring tonight’s ticket, you can catch the same show at Ranard Grand Theater for free. We’ll even bump up your seats!” the staff declared.

That announcement was all it took. Everyone broke into smiles. With triple compensation and an upgraded free show, no one would complain now.

With the staff guiding them, the audience filed out in an orderly manner.

Eowyn muttered, “What a stroke of bad luck today! Of all nights, the equipment craps out! And on top of that, there goes my chance to get close to those handsome dancers. I was actually hoping the show would pick me as the lucky fan or something.”

Zoya chuckled, “Well, maybe next time then.”

“Yeah, guess that’s all we can do now.” Eowyn sighed. As they reached the doors of the theater, she glanced at her watch. “It’s barely after nine, so Wren probably isn’t here yet. Want to call him to check? I can give you a lift home.”

Zoya was just about to say yes when her eyes landed on a sleek, familiar Maybach parked not too far away. Before she knew it, a tall, recognizable figure stepped out and started heading right toward her.

‘What’s Wren doing here so early?‘ Zoya wondered, a bit surprised.

But then, Zoya noticed someone else climbing out of a car parked just behind Wren’s, and it was… Leon!

‘Is this just a coincidence? Or is there something else going on here?‘ Zoya wondered to herself.

Thinking of that, she couldn’t help but shoot Eowyn a look.

Eowyn was clearly just as stunned. As Wren and Leon strode over, every woman spilling out of the theater couldn’t take their eyes off the two men. Attention followed them like a spotlight.

After all, their appearances were truly exceptional. One exuded an icy detachment, while the other carried an air of meticulous elegance.

If Wren didn’t give off that “don’t even think about it” vibe, the women would’ve swarmed him for his number

ages ago.

“Since Wren’s here to pick you up, Zozo, I’m gonna head out,” Eowyn said, clearly wanting to make a quick

escape.

Zoya naturally knew Eowyn and Leon had history, though all she knew was that Eowyn had liked him intensely before suddenly ending things with him after a year.

When she asked about the reason for the breakup, Eowyn just played it cool, acting like it was no big deal. “We’re not right for each other, so we broke up. Besides, who only dates one person nowadays?”

After that, Eowyn moved on with a kind of ease that honestly caught Zoya off guard. She threw herself into work, chased after her ambitions, and whenever she had downtime, she’d gush over celebs or indulge herself in admiring handsome guys.

It was as if her past with Leon had long since faded into irrelevance.

But Eowyn never mentioned Leon again, and whenever they crossed paths with Harvey, she deliberately avoided any mention of Leon.

Sometimes, Zoya wondered if Eowyn really had moved on.

But before Eowyn could make her escape, Leon’s voice rang out, clearly irritated. “So, you’re gonna bolt the second you spot me?”

Eowyn forced a laugh and squared her shoulders. “With Mr. Richmond here to pick Zoya up, of course, I’m leaving. Otherwise, I would become a third wheel.”

Leon pressed his lips together.

Wren glanced at Zoya and said, “Let’s go.”

Zoya hesitated, glancing at Eowyn. “Eowyn, you…”

“Go on ahead, I’ve actually got something to discuss with Leon,” Eowyn said.

Zoya pulled Eowyn aside and whispered, “Are you sure it’s okay?”

Eowyn shrugged. “It’s not like Leon is some wild beast who’s going to gobble me up or anything. Trust me, I’m fine! Besides, I’m serious. I do need to talk with Leon alone. You two sticking around would make things

awkward.”

“Alright, I’ll leave first then,” Zoya said, finally following Wren away.

Eowyn turned to Leon and said, “Let me be a bit presumptuous, Mr. Hoyles. Did you actually come here to look for me?”

Leon pressed his lips together.

He’d bumped into Wren at a business event earlier that evening.

While Wren was calling Zoya, Eowyn was practically shouting so loud that Leon, even off to the side, could hear every word.

She kept going on and on about hot guys, muscles, and getting up close. Leon was instantly annoyed to the

max.

‘Does she get off on ogling men everywhere?‘ Leon grumbled to himself. ‘We’ve broken up, and I’ve always thought I no longer cared all these years. So why did I trail after Wren’s car here?‘

“What if I told you I did come here just for you?” Leon challenged, tossing the question back at her instead of answering.

Eowyn raised an eyebrow. “Seriously? After all these years, you still can’t get me out of your mind?”

Leon narrowed his eyes. ‘Me? Can’t get her out of my mind? As if!‘ he scoffed silently. ‘Back then, it was only because she chased after me relentlessly that I finally agreed to date her.

‘She made it look like I was her whole world when we were together, but when she broke it off, that’s when I realized I’d been nothing but a fool all along.

‘She actually walked away without looking back, no hesitation, no sign she ever cared. It felt like I’ve been played with and cast aside.‘

“Eowyn, do you actually think that’s possible?” he said, his voice icy.

“Then why did you come to see me?” she snapped back.

He stared at her, his eyes dark and intense, as if searching for an answer he couldn’t even give himself.

After a long moment, he finally let out a quiet, hesitant question. “So… You really got tired of me?”

Eowyn was stunned. ‘He actually came all this way just to ask me that?‘

“Yeah, I got tired of you,” she replied without even a shred of hesitation.

Leon’s expression instantly darkened.

“I’ve answered your question, so let’s not cross paths again, Mr. Hoyles. Yeah, we could stay friends after breaking up, technically, but if my boyfriend keeps seeing us together, he’ll probably get jealous. So let’s not make things complicated,” Eowyn said.

“You have a boyfriend?” Leon’s eyes went cold and dark in an instant,

“Obviously!” Eowyn replied with a bright smile. “Come on, Mr. Hoyles, did you really think I’d just be hung up on you all these years, living in the past and not even seeing anyone else?”

Leon fell silent.

They had been broken up for years, and she could have moved on with someone new. But she and Harvey were on good terms, and he’d never heard Harvey mention her having a boyfriend before.

“Does your boyfriend really not care that you’re here, watching all these men put on a show?” Leon pressed.
