Lady Warrior's Warth on Divorce Day novel Chapter 157

Eowyn could barely remember how she’d fled that place in a panic. She hadn’t even had the guts to push open the door to the private room.

Later, with just one phone call, she ended things with Leon.

When she broke up with him over the phone, he just asked coolly, You won’t regret this?

No, I won’t.That was what she said at the time.

And just like that, they broke up.

For all those years after, their lives never intersected again. Just as Leon had said, she was just a distraction to kill his boredom.

Now that she was gone, he could always find another distraction.

But what she had never seen coming was that years down the line, she and Leon ended up bumping into each other twice, both times awkward as hell.

After leaving the motel, she didn’t even bother to say goodbye. Instead, she walked across the street, got into her car, and drove off without looking back.

After all, Leon and I best never see each other again,Eowyn thought to herself.

What’s up with you? You’ve been zoning out these past couple of days.Zoya’s voice snapped Eowyn back to reality.

Oh!Eowyn blinked and jolted out of her thoughts.

Even when she forced herself not to think about Leon, he’d end up popping into her head anyway.

ManFirst loves really are hard to get over,’ Eowyn sighed inwardly. But no matter how tough it is, I have to

move on.’

Nothing. I was just wondering when Harvey would finally dig up information about that guy who checked into the motel with Jasmine,Eowyn said.

Naturally, it had been her main concern during these past few days.

Zoya had already heard about what happened that day from Eowyn, and her instincts screamed that there was some weird stuff going on between Jasmine and that guy.

Either way, it’s never gonna be anything good,Zoya muttered.

She just had this nagging feeling that Jasmine was keeping secrets. Pretending to be the one who saved Nicolas’s life is one thing, but there has to be a whole other story behind that wildfire years back, Zoya thought. After all, Jasmine was the last one to see the copilot from Cloud Airlines alive before he died.’

That copilot was the first fatality, and his death was caused by a cigarette butt that hadn’t been properly extinguished.

Zoya had checked out the spot where the wildfire started. Hardly anyone ever went there. If Jasmine had actually watched that copilot burn, odds were she knew exactly who’d been smoking and left their cigarette smoldering in the grass.

Yet she didn’t know why Jasmine didn’t speak up at the time.

Even when everyone said the fire started because the copilot was smoking, Jasmine backed up that story, claimed she’d seen him with a cigarette too, just dumping all the blame on him.

I mean, wouldn’t anyone with a shred of guilt feel at least a little bad after letting someone die like that?Zoya thought to herself. Unless she was trying to protect the real smoker. Orthe person who really lit up was Jasmine herself!

Zoya shivered, suddenly blurting out, Do you think Jasmine smokes?

Huh?Eowyn blinked, thrown off. Where did that come from?

I can’t help but feel like, when it came to that border fire all those years ago, Jasmine was more than just a helpless bystander,Zoya said.

Eowyn tensed up for a moment, then said, We should check into that. But I’ve never seen Jasmine smoke.

Zoya pursed her lips. She hadn’t seen Jasmine smoke, either.

But that doesn’t mean Jasmine’s never smoked before, Zoya thought. ‘Guess this really is a lead we need to dig into.

By the way, are you free tonight?Eowyn asked.

Kind of,” Zoya replied.

Kind of? You don’t already have plans or something, do you?Eowyn asked.

Not really. I just told Wren I’d be home for dinner, but I could call him and let him know,Zoya said.

Eowyn teased, Seriously, if folks didn’t know the real story, they’d think you and Wren were already married. You two are basically living the married life.

Zoya blinked, and when she thought about it, she realized, Yeah, it actually does feel kind of married.

She bought groceries after work daily and cooked at home. Wren’s burned hand wasn’t fully healed, but he still helped in the kitchen.

Once they’d finished eating, he’d tidy up, clear the table, and load everything into the dishwasher.

They also watched TV dramas together, caught up on the news, and even read various books.

Wren was seriously wellread, so discussing ideas and points from the books with him was always engaging

and lively.

If they needed to work, they would both work together in the study. The study now had an additional set of desks and chairs compared to the original setup.

No denying it, sharing a place with Wren was surprisingly comfortable.

So, have you and Wrenever done that?Eowyn asked, shooting Zoya a mischievous smirk.

Zoya rolled her eyes. No, we haven’t. Can’t you keep your mind clean for once?

I just feel like you’re losing out. You’ve got a total hottie living with you and you’re just watching, not even trying anything?Eowyn pressed.

Zoya was quite speechless. Since when does losing outmean this?

But since you’re all about just looking, tonight I’m taking you out to really broaden your horizons. Get ready to check out some foreign hotties!Eowyn joked, patting Zoya on the shoulder.

That night, Zoya accompanied Eowyn to the Ranard Grand Theater. Watching all those imported hotties strut their stuff on stage, while Eowyn practically glowing with excitement beside her, Zoya couldn’t help but say, So this is your idea of broadening my horizons, huh?

Yeah!Eowyn nodded enthusiastically. This is the iconic men’s dance troupe from Emontaland. Their moves are insane, and the whole stage setup is nextlevel. That water curtain makes it feel like it’s literally raining. These guys are getting soaked but still busting out killer moves. What a unique vibe!

Especially since they can feast my eyes and grab my attention, helping me forget all about Leon for a while,’ Eowyn thought to herself.

Zoya watched one after another of these exotic hunk dancers, shirtless and clad in tight black leather pants that sculpted their muscular frames, moving in sync with the infectious rhythm, effortlessly igniting the energy of the crowd.

Especially on stage, where rainlike water cascaded over their hair, faces, and bodies, dropping at their feet before splashing into even more dazzling bursts, sparking a collective flutter in the women’s hearts.

The place was alive with excitement.

Eowyn was screaming her head off, totally unashamed about how much she was loving every second.

In contrast, Zoya was much more composed.

She watched the guys dance. Sure, it was a feast for the eyes, but it didn’t make her heart race.

Now, the only guy who could really get her heart racing wasWren.

Wren’s face popped into her mind before she could stop it.

Right then, her phone started ringing, and Wren’s name popped up on the screen.

Zoya answered, pressing the phone to her ear. Hey, Wren. What’s up?

What’s going on over there? It’s so noisy,Wren said.

Before Zoya could reply, Eowyn came right up and practically hollered in her ear, Zozo, check out that hottie! Seriously, those muscles could kill! And guess what, they’re about to do a lucky audience drawing. If you get picked, you actually get to go up there and hang out with those guys up close!

Zoya shot Eowyn a hurried hand wave to quiet her down, but right then, she heard Wren say, Where are you?

I’m at a show with Eowyn. It won’t be done till around ten. I’ll come home myself afterward,Zoya replied.

I’ll come pick you up,Wren said.

But-Zoya started.

But Wren had already hung up.

Who was that? Wren?Eowyn asked.

Yeah,Zoya replied. He’s coming to pick me up when it’s over.

Aww, that’s so sweet!Eowyn teased, raising an eyebrow with a grin. But in the next second, her attention was already back on the guys on stage.

The vibe in the theater kept amping up, everyone was hyped, and the place was buzzing. Then, just when things hit their peak, bam! The power went out.
