“How come you’re looking through my photos without even asking?” Eowyn stepped up.
“If you wanna press charges, just do it. I’ll deal with it,” Leon said calmly.
“It’s really not that big of a deal,” Eowyn muttered.
“I never thought you were into collecting guys. Are all these men the ones you’re interested in? Aren’t you afraid your boyfriend might get jealous?” Leon said, sounding a bit jealous, though he didn’t even realize it.
Eowyn replied with a small smile, “My boyfriend’s pretty laid–back. He never cares about stuff like this.”
The album was just some modeling agency stuff from a friend, but she didn’t see the point in explaining that right now.
“So he wouldn’t mind you spending the night at Harvey’s place? Just the two of you alone–who knows what might happen?” Leon asked.
“Nope, like I said, my boyfriend’s super chill,” Eowyn replied.
Leon scoffed at her response.
He put the album back down on the coffee table and stepped up to Eowyn. “If your boyfriend’s really that easygoing, then either he doesn’t truly care about you, or he’s one hell of an actor.”
“What do you even mean by that?” Eowyn frowned.
“Men aren’t as generous as you imagine. When you choose a boyfriend, at least make sure you know what kind of guy you’re dealing with,” Leon said.
He saw that her hair was still wet after the shower, then grabbed the towel from her hand and started to dry her hair for her.
Eowyn froze for a moment, instantly reminded of how things used to be between them. Every time she stepped out of the shower back when they were dating, Leon would always towel off her hair for her.
Back then, just that little gesture was enough to make her heart flutter with joy.
But now, all that was left was awkwardness.
“No need to trouble yourself, Mr. Hoyles,” Eowyn said, suddenly stepping back a couple of paces and tossing her half–damp hair.
She added, “I’ll blow–dry it in a minute. If you have something to say, just say it.”
Leon furrowed his brows and said, “You’re seriously telling me you don’t have any feelings for Harvey?”
“I swear on everything that nothing is going on between me and Harvey!” Eowyn blurted out.
She felt that this kind of misunderstanding had to be shut down before it could even start.
“Last time it was at the hotel, now it’s Harvey’s place. Where’s the next stop? Your apartment?” Leon said out of nowhere.
“It’s really just a coincidence!” Eowyn replied quickly, “Come on, Harvey already has someone he likes.
“You mean Zoya, right?” Leon said, “Look, for guys, feelings and hooking up aren’t the same thing. Even if he doesn’t have a thing for you, if you’ve got other ideas about Harvey, there’s no telling what could happen.”
Eowyn’s face hardened, memories from those old days suddenly rushing back.
‘Guess I was nothing more than a way for him to kill time,’ she thought.
“Mr. Hoyles, are you just projecting your crap onto other people? You could sleep with me even when you didn’t give a damn about me, so now you figure every man is just as shallow?” Eowyn snapped not holding back.
Leon was thrown off. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Harvey and you are nothing alike,” Eowyn snapped.
Leon narrowed his eyes, clearly annoyed. “Why do you trust him that much? Do you really think you know what kind of guy he is?”
Eowyn said, “I don’t know Harvey that well, so I’m not going to say I trust him completely. But I do trust Zoya. Harvey’s her teammate, her friend, and someone she can truly confide in.
“If Zoya can open up to him like that, he must be someone who takes relationships seriously, not the kind of guy who just plays around.”
Leon let out a cold laugh. “What makes you think I’m the kind of guy who’d sleep with someone I don’t even like?”
Eowyn actually burst out laughing. “Seriously, did you forget what you said to your buddies in that private room back then?”
“What the hell are you talking about?” Leon shot her a sharp look.
“You told your friends I was just something to kill your boredom. Bad luck for you, I overheard every word. So why the hell would I stick around and be your toy?” Eowyn retorted coldly.
Leon went rigid, his face draining of color in an instant.
“You heard that?” he asked with hesitation, his heart hammering in his chest.
Eowyn replied with a bitter little laugh, “Yeah, I heard it. Honestly, Mr. Hoyles, you taught me something I won’t forget. Guess some guys really can sleep with women they don’t even care about.”
“So, you broke up with me just because you heard those things?” Leon asked.
Eowyn looked down and thought, ‘Honestly, it wasn’t only because of that. It was a major reason, but there were other things too. But I don’t plan to tell him.‘
Eowyn shot back with a dry smile, “Exactly. After hearing that, what was I supposed to do–stick around and keep being your fuck buddy?
“Mr. Hoyles, if you came all the way here just to lecture me about Harvey, don’t worry, I have zero interest in
him.
“Honestly, I don’t want to be stuck as family with my ex. Having to face you at every holiday dinner for the rest of my life will be painfully awkward.”
Leon’s face turned stormy in an instant, his expression dark and dangerous.

Daphne made her way to the detention center to see Jasmine.
She’d barely been in Ranard City a few days before Jasmine landed herself in trouble and got arrested.
Jasmine’s parents were desperately trying to hire a lawyer for her, but Ranard City’s four biggest law firms all refused to handle her case.
With nowhere else to turn, they had to start reaching out to lawyers from other cities.
The other members of the Ingram family wasted no time cutting all ties with Jasmine.
Daphne had to call in a lot of favors just to see Jasmine in the detention center.
“It’s all because of Zoya. Seriously, if it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t be stuck here like this!” Jasmine snapped, unable to hold back her frustration in the detention center’s visitation room.
“Honestly, I don’t think the Lucero family can really help you,” Daphne said with hesitation. Her uncle had already made it clear. The Lucero family wasn’t getting involved since Jasmine’s case involved such a big disaster.
But Jasmine just shrugged, like she’d expected that. “Doesn’t bother me. I’ve still got Nicolas. He’ll take care of me. I’m having his baby. No way he’d dump me now. I’ve already put in for bail ‘cause I’m expecting, so I’ll be out of this place any day now.”
“Wait, you’re pregnant?” Daphne gasped, her eyes wide in shock.
Jasmine smirked, shooting Daphne a look. “Yep, this kid’s a total blessing. Nicolas is stuck with me now. Since you are my cousin, let me give you a tip.
“If you want to stay in the Lucero family, you’d better lock down Wren. Otherwise, your family will kick you out faster than you think.”
‘Lock Wren down… If only grabbing onto him was that simple,‘ Daphne thought with a helpless sigh.
Walking out of the detention center, Daphne was frowning hard. She understood exactly what Jasmine meant.
She was barely hanging on in the Lucero family. If she didn’t act fast, she’d be kicked out for sure.
Just then, a sleek black sedan pulled up right in front of Daphne.
Wren’s personal secretary, Gilbert Newman, stepped out and said to Daphne, “Miss Lucero, Mr. Richmond would like to see you.”
