Lady Warrior's Warth on Divorce Day novel Chapter 94

Chapter 94

Nicolas stared fixedly at the figure desperately swimming toward the child in the sea, his eyes filled with shock.

And Wren was also staring fixedly at Zoya’s figure.

His tall body stiffened. He stared almost motionlessly at the woman in the sea.

The waves repeatedly covered her head, but she continued to swim deeper into the sea.

Wren’s blood… seemed to freeze in his body, and even his breathing seemed to stop. The woman who was just by his side was now rushing toward danger to save another person.

And those waves seemed to drag her into an even more perilous situation.

‘And I, will I never see her again?’ Wren couldn’t help but wonder. ‘Just like how I’ll never see my mother again.’

His mind almost went blank, but his body had already started moving on its own, running toward the surging waves.

‘Nothing can happen to her!’ he told himself silently. ‘She can not be in any danger!’

“Mr. Richmond!” The bodyguards, who had been protecting Wren in the shadows, appeared, intending to stop him.

After all, Wren’s safety was their top priority.

Wren suddenly dodged, avoiding one bodyguard, while another’s hand had already reached out toward him.

But in the next moment, Wren suddenly acted at extreme speed, throwing the bodyguard over his shoulder, and continued running forward.

At that moment, in his eyes, there was only the figure of Zoya.

Everyone watched as Wren plunged into the sea and swam toward Zoya.

In such waves, anyone who dared to plunge in like that was risking their life to save others.

‘Zoya plunged into the waves to save the child. So what about Wren? Who is he, the head of the Richmond family, trying to save by diving into the sea like this?’ Everyone couldn’t help but wonder.

Zoya frantically swam toward the child in the sea.

Rescuing someone in churning seawater was far more difficult than in a river.

Zoya had excellent physical strength and superb swimming skills, and she had also specifically learned various methods of

water rescue.

In water like this, every time she swam, she would avoid the crests of the waves, wait for them to pass, and then swim forward with all her might.

But even so, her physical strength was rapidly declining.

I have to save him! I absolutely have to save this child, Zoya thought to herself.

Her fingers finally grasped the child’s arm, which allowed Zoya to breathe a slight sigh of relief.

The child had swallowed a lot of seawater and was barely struggling, allowing Zoya to drag him back.

Zoya knew she had to swim back to shore as quickly as possible.

The golden rescue window was only a few minutes. If they missed it, even if she managed to get the child back to shore, it would likely be too late to save him.

She needed to be fast, very fast!

Zoya swam desperately, her energy rapidly depleting. Another wave crashed, and Zoya felt that just as she and the child had managed to get a little closer, they were pushed further away again.

Just as she was panicking, a hand suddenly grabbed the child she was dragging, giving her a chance to catch her breath.

Zoya was stunned, then realized the person helping her in the sea was Wren.

With Wren’s help, the three of them quickly reached the shore.

By then, medical personnel from the island had arrived. They took the child and began performing CPR.

“Ms. Lucero, Mr. Richmond, are you both alright? Would you like a doctor to check on you?” someone asked, stepping forward.

“It’s fine, I just need a little rest,” Zoya panted, her body staggering to the side.

Having expended too much energy in the sea just now, she felt a bit weak.

Just as Zoya tried to steady herself, a hand supported her waist and steadied her in time.

It was a strong, well-defined hand. Just by looking at it, Zoya knew the person holding her was Wren.

“Thank you,” Zoya said. “I’m fine now, you can take your hand-”

Before she could finish her sentence, Wren pulled her tightly into his embrace.

His embrace was tight, yet his hands were held back with extreme restraint, as if he dared not squeeze too hard, afraid he might hurt her.

Zoya froze. “Wren?”

But he only buried his head deep into her shoulder, breathing in her scent and feeling her warmth.

Only by holding her close in his arms like this could his restless heart find a fleeting sense of calm.

‘She’s here. She’s alive! Right there, alive in my arms!’ Wren thought to himself.

He had never realized until now that he could care so deeply for someone, to the point where their life and safety mattered more than anything.

“What’s wrong?” Zoya asked.

Wren’s embrace, though not forceful, was impossible to break free from.

What made her even more concerned was that his hands, which wrapped around her, were trembling.

He was trembling violently, as if he were afraid of something.

Could it be because of his earlier experience diving into the sea to save someone?’ Zoya wondered. After all, the waves were raging. Even during a rescue, death could come at any moment.

“Don’t be afraid,” Zoya whispered reassuringly. “It’s okay now. Everyone is safe.”

“Yes, everyone is safe,” Wren’s murmuring voice came from her neck.

Even though she was safely in his arms, his hands wouldn’t stop trembling.

Not only his hands, but his entire body was trembling.

The fear lingering in his body still hadn’t faded.

It was… the fear of losing her.

“Zoya, I… I’ve truly fallen in love with you,” he murmured, his voice reaching her ears.

Zoya’s body suddenly stiffened. ‘What was he saying? In love? He’s in love with me? I must have misheard!’

But Wren’s next words, undeniably clear in her ears, told her she hadn’t misheard.

“I love you even more than I realized!” he murmured. “So, please don’t make me this afraid anymore, okay?”

“What?” Zoya said, stunned.

Wren slowly raised his head, his gaze fixed squarely on Zoya.

He was drenched, water cascading down his wet hair and face.

His pale complexion made his eyes appear even clearer.

Unlike his usual indifference and silence, at this moment, his eyes held anxiety, unease, and a profound fear of loss.

“From now on, whoever you want to save, I’ll save them. Whatever you want to do, I’ll do it for you. You don’t need to put yourself in danger anymore. Whatever you desire, I’ll make it happen.” Wren’s lips moved with each word.

His hoarse, deep voice was like a solemn vow.

Zoya stared blankly at the man before her, realizing he was serious.

He lowered his head, his lips lightly touched the back of her hand, kissing it with almost religious devotion.

“Zoe, please don’t leave me, not in any form!” His murmured voice faintly drifted into the air.

Not far away, Nicolas’s face was turning pale, and he felt at this moment as if something precious was slipping away forever.
