Lady Warrior's Warth on Divorce Day novel Chapter 95

Chapter 95

This scene of Wren embracing Zoya was so glaring to Nicolas that he even wanted to rush over and pull Zoya out of Wren’s

arms.

“Nicolas.” Jasmine’s voice brought him back to his senses.

Nicolas then turned his head to look at Jasmine.

“It seems Zoya is quite cunning. She actually managed to get Wren to go into the sea with her to save someone. I think she was just trying to show off. After all, with so many news outlets present, she knew her rescue would be reported, which is why she did it, right?” Jasmine scoffed disdainfully.

Nicolas remained silent.

Show off? Who would try to show off by bravely rescuing someone in rough, turbulent seas?’ he thought.

That was risking one’s life to save someone.

“I think she’s too manipulative…” Jasmine continued to disparage Zoya.

In the past, when Jasmine said these things, Nicolas wouldn’t have thought much of it, but at this moment, he found it extremely jarring.

“That’s enough, Jasmine. Zoya is saving someone. Just like when you saved me from the river back then, were you trying to show off too?” Nicolas sternly said.

Jasmine’s expression changed. “How can you compare my saving you with this situation? When I saved you, there were no reporters around.”

“There were so many people there, but Zoya was the first one to rush over. Why didn’t others closer to the sea rush to save him? Among so many people, was Zoya the only one who wanted to show off?” Nicolas retorted.

Jasmine was displeased. “Are you speaking up for Zoya?”

“I’m not speaking up for her; I’m just… stating the facts.” Nicolas pursed his lips, looking at Jasmine, with hesitation and struggle in his eyes. “Jasmine, why were you willing to save me from the river back then, but now that a child has fallen into the sea, you

don’t even want me to go save them?”

A flash of panic crossed Jasmine’s eyes. “What are you suspecting now?”

“I just feel you’re a bit unlike the person I knew…” he murmured.

In his memory, Jasmine should have been selfless, someone willing to help strangers, even in danger. She would still have rescued him from the river and comforted him when he was disoriented and desperate, not someone who stood by and did nothing when others were in danger.

“That’s because I care too much about you,” Jasmine said. “I was afraid you’d be in danger if you went to save someone, which is why I stopped you. If Zoya hadn’t rushed to save the child, I would have rushed over too.”

“Really?” Nicolas scrutinized Jasmine.

“Do you think I’m lying?” Jasmine said unhappily. “If you truly can’t even trust me, then I don’t see the point in us continuing this relationship. I’ll just tell the news media that I have no connection to you.”

“Jasmine, that’s not what I meant.” Nicolas quickly said. “I do trust you.”

“Then don’t bring this up again.” Jasmine said, turning to look at Zoya not far away.

She would absolutely not let Zoya destroy everything she had now, nor would she let Nicolas discover who the real rescuer

was.

Meanwhile, Daphne was also staring intently at Zoya.

She could barely believe that Wren would rush into the sea with Zoya to save someone.

Saving someone was something anyone might do, but it was impossible for Wren.

Having known Wren for so many years, she was very clear that he possessed not an ounce of kindness or compassion.

Even if someone died in front of him, he would remain indifferent.

But now, he went to save someone.

Daphne thought, ‘Why… is it because of Zoya?’

Even in front of everyone, he embraced her.

It was as if he were announcing to everyone that his relationship with Zoya was far from ordinary, especially seeing the surrounding reporters holding cameras and camcorders filming this scene; the jealousy in Daphne’s heart surged.

The person who should be by his side was she, not Zoya.

The child who fell into the sea was finally rescued by the medical staff.

This also made Zoya breathe a sigh of relief. Afterward, she and Wren went to the island’s only hotel to change clothes.

Because the island is still in its early stages of development, many facilities were not yet complete, and this was the only hotel available.

In the hotel room, Zoya looked at the change of clothes the staff brought, then glanced at Wren standing beside her. “Alright, I’m going to shower and change. You should also go to the guest room next door and wash

up too.”

Wren looked at Zoya. “I’ll wait here for you to finish showering.”

Zoya sighed. The way he looked at her made it seem as if she might disappear at any moment.

“I’m not going to disappear,” Zoya said. “You should still go back to the room next door and take a hot shower. Otherwise, if you get sick, the medical facilities on this island are limited, and you might have to return before the upcoming island investment conference even ends.”

But Wren still seemed intent on waiting.

Zoya thought for a moment, then proactively extended the pinky finger of her right hand. She took Wren’s hand, hooking their pinkies together. “Let’s make a pinky promise. I’ll wait for you in the room after I’ve showered.”

Since Wren had fallen for the pinky promise before, this was the only trick she could use now.

Wren pressed his lips together, gazing fixedly at their hooked pinkies. After a long while, he finally murmured, “Okay, I’ll go wash up. Wait for me.”

Zoya nodded.

After Wren left her room, she took her change of clothes and went into the bathroom.

The warm water flow, completely different from the icy seawater before, gradually warmed her previously cold body.

The successful rescue of the child today was also thanks to Wren. If he hadn’t helped her bring the child to shore, it would have taken her much longer.

The child might also have been in the water for too long to be saved.

Today, however, she didn’t expect Wren to rush into the sea, much less tell her he loved her.

The love she once envisioned should be like her parents’, where they could give to and care for each other, for a lifetime, with only one person.

Nicolas also told her he loved her when they married, promising to cherish her.

But in the end, all she received was betrayal. For three years of marriage, only Jasmine was in his heart.

Now, Wren said he loved her, and she found it somewhat unbelievable, no matter how she thought about it.

‘How long have known Wren? Besides, would a man like him truly love a woman?’ Zoya thought.

When she finished her hot shower, drying her hair as she walked out of the bathroom, she saw that Wren was already back in her room.

He had already changed his clothes, but his hair was still wet, with water droplets continuously falling from his strands.

Zoya approached him. “You’ve showered, but why isn’t your hair dry?”

“I didn’t dry it because I was afraid of wasting time,” he said.

Zoya was speechless. They hadn’t set a specific time, and she wasn’t going to run away from the room.

“Bend down,” she said.

His eyes flickered slightly, then he obediently bent down.

Zoya picked up the towel nearby and dried Wren’s still dripping wet hair.

“By the way, you said you love me. Is that true?” she asked abruptly.

Wren stiffened slightly, his previously lowered head slowly lifted, and their eyes met at that moment.
